Service Center Denmark operates from Frederikshavn in the northern part of Den-

mark. Together with the MAN Diesel & Turbo production plant, these locations form

a local full-service MAN PrimeServ setup for Scandinavian and North Europeancustomers and vessels trading in the North Sea/Baltic service.

One face to the customer: Alone and together with the local maritime cluster of

specialists, Service Center Denmark offers turnkey solutions in fields of extensive

ship service, re-engining expertise, major repair tasks and exchange service on all

propulsion and auxiliary machinery.

Extensive repair jobs on vessels requiring large dry-

dock facilities are carried out in cooperation with lo-

cal yards. Large vessels, with up to 8m draught can

be accommodated at our 800m repair quay. Our slip-

way can handle small and medium size vessels. The

majority of the vessels serviced are:

Service Center Denmark offers on board perfor-

mance testing of medium-speed and low-speed

engines and propulsion equipment. A test is often

recommended due to the very different real-life load

patterns and running conditions of propulsion en-

gines, as well as the influence of different fuel oil, lube

oil and maintenance standards.

Large-scale turnkey jobs

Service Center Denmark has many years of ac-

cumulated knowledge, detailed expertise and or-

ganisational power to perform both small and large

scale re-engining tasks. The jobs range from classic

small re-engining of tugs and fishing vessels where

a power upgrade is done by installing new and more

powerful engines to more extensive machinery jobs

for passenger ships and ferries where multi-engine

propulsion plants have their existing propulsion en-

gines repaired, overhauled or completely exchanged

with new engines.

Auxilliary machinery not only engines

For a majority of the re-engining jobs, also the auxil-

iary systems are refurbished and upgraded with new

equipment. Not only the primary engine and GenSet

related equipment and systems, such as fuel oil, lu be

oil and cooling water pumps, heat exchangers, filters

and piping but also secondary systems like refrig-

eration systems and PTO-driven hydraulics.

High-quality repair solutions to damaged propeller

equipment are offered. Crack control is performed

after e.g. welding and/or straightening and grind-

ing of blades together with 3D measurements and

comparison to the original drawing dimensions and

profiles.

Blade design upgrade

Our hydrodynamic expertise, design tools and tests

verify that for changed ship operating profiles, a pro-

peller blade design upgrade leads to more fuel ef-

ficient and noise suppressing propulsion solutions.

New propeller nozzles

For bollard pull optimisation, both in ahead and

astern condition, installation of the new AHT (Alpha

High Thrust) nozzles has proved very beneficial.

Our shaft straightening service i s characterised by:

Class approved cold straightening of bent shafts has

become more and more popular due to the costs

and time involved in the procurement of new shafts.

With our inhouse propeller and propulsion plant de-

sign tools, the expertise on shaft design, FEM cal-

culations, mechanical properties and strengths is at

hand.

Propeller shafts and rudder stocks are handled with

our hydraulic press and a shaft straightening proc-

ess may include final grinding and polishing together

with the initial magnaflux check for possible cracks

and fissures.

Green benefits with increased propeller efficiency

Improved fuel economy and direct operational sav-

ings are high-ranked customer advantages, but less

noise, reduced emission and overall green contribu-

tions from the propulsion plant, are also to be con-

sidered with an upgrade investment offering an at-

tractive and short pay-back time.
