The Watermark at Vistawilla 1519 East State Road 434 Winter Springs, FL 32708 The month of January will bring a very exciting event. Our resident, Herman Greenspan was a member of the VFW Post 2093 Community Band for 5 years. He was a trumpet player. The group will be performing on January 21 at 6pm here at Watermark. The band includes 30 members that have been performing together for 25 years. The Band rehearses one night each week and new members are always invited. Claude Monet (1840-1926) was a famous French painter whose work gave a name to the art movement known as “Impressionism.” This passed month Mackenna Jensen from our Community Life Department shared her love for this artist by doing a Watermark University program called, "The Art of Monet". She told our residents about his life and how he came to paint such amazing pieces of art. Monet had vision difficulties that effected his paintings later in life. The residents learned about how even through adversity great and amazing things can be done. In the month of December we asked staff to bring in cookies and they stepped up to the plate. Our residents got together and put them in gift baggies. On December 19th, we took them to a nursing home to share with their residents and staff. It was great fun and the nursing home residents were so happy to have the cookies and get a hug from our residents, Norvelle Alderman and Barbara Matlock. The holidays are sure nicer when you’re able to give to others. Service Projects from the Heart We can’t help bragging about all of our outings. December was filled with them. We got to enjoy the “Brass Band of Central Florida”, at St. Luke’s Church in Oviedo which was filled with holiday music. We had dinner at Dominick’s Italian Restaurant in Winter Springs. We sat outside on the patio and kept warm with heaters while listening to live entertainment. Dominick was kind enough to give us all a free dessert of delicious rum cake which surely added to a great evening out. Not only do we go shopping and out to lunch we like to many different things. This includes dinner at Thai Basil and a ride around town. Our drive took us through Winter Springs and Oviedo to see Christmas Lights for the holidays. The evening was filled with family, residents and staff enjoying sweet desserts and beverages by our Dietary Department along with many hugs and smiles. What a great way to share joy

with others! This passed

November one of our

residents, Norvelle Alderman

had an idea to collect cookies

and share them with a nursing

home. So, that’s exactly what

we did. In the month of

December we asked staff to bring in cookies and they stepped up

to the plate. Our residents got together and put them in gift

baggies. On December 19th, we took them to a nursing home to

share with their residents and staff. It was great fun and the

nursing home residents were so happy to have the cookies and get

a hug from our residents, Norvelle Alderman and Barbara Matlock.

The holidays are sure nicer when you’re able to give to others.
