    Our professional staff works to cre-ate a safe and creative environmentin which every child can build self-confidence, make friends, acquirenew skills, and experience fun activi-ties.

Campers receive RedCross swim lessons daily and canearn achievement pins or ribbons.Activities include free swim, sports,games, arts & crafts, nature, drama,Judaics, Israeli culture and dance, aswell as special events such as carni-vals, parades, holiday celebrationsand Olympic-type activities.

    Kindergarten-age campers have an

    undernighter during Session 1.Campers in grades 1-4 will partici-pate in an overnight during Session1. Sessions 2, 3 and 4 will each havea late stay until 6 pm. Each camperin grades 1-4 selects from a varietyof chugim (hobbies) that mayinclude drama, sports, arts & crafts,dance, camp newspaper, jewelrymaking, nature and much more.

    Chalutzim offers our older daycampers traditional day camp activi-tiesdaily Red Cross swim lessons,free swim, sports, arts & crafts,nature, drama, Judaics and Israeliculture as well as an extended spe-cialty period. Specialty periods mayinclude newspaper, photography,drum karaoke, PowerPoint, balloonart and cooking. Session 1 includesan overnight; Sessions 2, 3 and 4will have 6 pm late-stays.

    New this Summer

    Once-a-week field trips to includefishing in the Allegheny River, atour of PNC Park, ice skating atMt. Lebanon Ice Rink, andPittsburgh Zoo and PPGAquarium.

    Fifth- and sixth-graders will go toConcordia of the South Hills eachFriday afternoon to conduct aKabbalat Shabbat (welcoming of

    the Sabbath) program for theresidents. Seventh- and eighth-graders will assist at a local foodpantry.

    Both groups will plant and main-tain a garden. The fifth- andsixth-graders will grow flowersthat they will take with them onFridays for the residents atConcordia. The seventh- andeighth-graders will grow vegeta-bles that they will donate to thelocal food pantry.

    In addition there will be specialevent programming such as carni-vals, holiday celebrations andOlympic-type games.

    Performing Arts campers developcreativity and teamwork skills andgain confidence through music, act-ing and dance as they work on atheater production.

    Campers participate in swim lessonsand free swim daily. They also workwith specialists in art, sports andnature while focusing on the arts.

    Campers experience the specialcamaraderie and energy of a musi-cal theater production at theconclusion of the session. They alsohave the opportunity to learn aboutthe backstage components of the-ater production, including setconstruction, sound and costumemaking. Performing Arts Camp is aprogram of the Philip ChoskyPerforming Arts Program.
