Volunteering in the IDF - Starting October 28th Have you ever thought of volunteering in the IDF for a week or two, but just did not get around to it? Well, here's an opportunity. There are only a few times throughout the year when a one-week program is offered, with the option of continuing for a second week or longer. The next opportunity for a one-week program is Sunday, October 28, which starts at 8 a.m. meeting at the airport and continues through Thursday, November 1, while the two-week program continues through Thursday, November 8. There is a lengthy application to be completed, which can be accessed at the Volunteers for Israel website:www.vfi-usa.org. Click on 'program options', 'adults', and download the application and handbook. FAQ can be found by clicking on 'About VFI'. The cost is $125 per person plus airfare. Transportation is provided back to the airport on Thursday, but other transportation costs and accommodations for Friday and Shabbat are obligations of the volunteers. Additional information about Sar-El (The National Project for Volunteers for Israel) can be found on its website:www.sar-el.org. P lease let Mike Lowenstein (410-409-8967 or [email protected]) know if you have an interest in participating in what he promises will be a most enjoyable, uplifting, and meaningful experience. Since the start date of October 28 is a popular one, we would need to apply as soon as possible.
