Introduction
The Silverstone Classic is extremely popular with the membership of the BRDC and gets better and better every year.
It is now well established as the largest historic racing festival in the world with a remarkable 1,200 cars and 800 drivers taking part over the three days.
This leaflet outlines what is on offer over the Classic weekend which includes an enhanced Friday night BRDC Silverstone Classic Dinner and the hugely welcome return of The Chris Barber Band to the Club on Sunday night.
Tickets, passes and parking
Members’ Passes
Your 2013 BRDC Member and guest passes will give you General Admission to the circuit and infield access to the BRDC Clubhouse and Farm. If you wish to purchase additional guest passes for access to the Clubhouse and the Farm these are available at any time throughout the year, but as much notice as possible ahead of the weekend that you require them will help the office enormously.
The longstanding requirement for the Member to be present before their guest pass(es) will operate the turnstiles at either the Clubhouse or the Farm will be strictly enforced.
If you are unable to attend the Silverstone Classic, your guests will not be allowed entry to the Clubhouse or Farm.
Tickets for Children
Every person, adult or child aged six and above, entering the circuit over the course of the weekend must be in possession of a valid entry ticket. Children may use one of your (season) guest passes or you can purchase a BRDC Silverstone Classic children’s ticket, the prices of which are detailed on the booking form. Children aged five and under do not require a ticket.
Whilst the Club is extremely keen to see children attend all events at Silverstone, Members are asked to remember that children should be supervised and well behaved in the Clubhouse. Please also remember that there are common courtesies, particularly towards older Members in the Club, which are appropriate. Should you require more guidance on the standards of behaviour expected of children in the Clubhouse, please consult the 2013 Members’ Yearbook.
Car Passes/Parking
Your annual Member’s car pass will give your car access to the BRDC Members’ infield car park. When this car park is full, Members will be directed to the nearest available overflow space in that area.
For cars without an annual BRDC Members’ car pass, all external public car parks are free of charge to everyone attending the Silverstone Classic weekend so no car passes are required. Spaces are allocated closest to the circuit on a first come first served basis, appropriate for the direction of approach.
Traffic
The traffic is normally quite heavy and gaining access to the circuit has been slow and, at times, frustrating in the past. This is in no small part due to the fact that the majority of infield displays feature car clubs and consequently some 7,000 classic cars are trying to gain access to the infield at the time when BRDC Members are also trying to arrive.
Whilst clearly a busy and popular event the Silverstone Classic is still considerably smaller than the Grand Prix and as such it does not employ the (very expensive) Grand Prix traffic plan which turns the A43 dual carriageway one way for entry and exit from the circuit. Add into the mix that many of the classic cars arriving struggle with overheating as they crawl slowly into the circuit and there is a strong case for making an early start or even a weekend of the event, staying on the campsite.
Disabled Parking
There will be disabled car parking at both the Clubhouse and the Farm with a dedicated minibus service travelling between the two areas all weekend. Any car displaying a Member’s car pass and a disabled ‘blue badge’ will be directed to either the Clubhouse or the Farm as they wish (provided space remains available).
Members’ “Classic Car” Parking
If the weather is good there will naturally be many Members who will be keen to come to the Classic in an appropriate motor car and those doing so will be directed to park at the Clubhouse.
Information for BRDC Members and their Guests

Clubhouse
Catering
Breakfast is available on all three days and can be booked on the enclosed booking form.
Members and their primary guest will pay just £6 per head for lunch on Friday and Sunday of the Silverstone Classic, provided that your meals are booked in advance using the enclosed booking form. Lunch on Saturday will be charged at the full unsubsidised rate.
As the Classic is a very popular meeting you are strongly advised to make reservations for all meals that you require at the Clubhouse during the weekend. ‘Walk-up’ trade will be accommodated on the day if possible, but only once all pre-booked meals have been honoured. All other meals will be charged at the following prices which are also the rates for meals ordered on the day:
Meal On the Day price inc VAT
Breakfast £12.00
Friday lunch £28.00
Saturday lunch £28.00
Sunday lunch £28.00
Children’s lunch £12.90
Please note that there is no food available at the Farm this year.
Opening hours
During the Silverstone Classic weekend the BRDC Clubhouse will open at the following times:
Friday 08:30 – 19:30
Saturday 08:30 – 21:00
Sunday 08:30 – 22:00
18:30 – 21:30 The Chris Barber Band
Club Shop
The BRDC Shop will be open at the Clubhouse for all three days of the Silverstone Classic.
Minibus
There will be a dedicated minibus service operating between the Farm/Campsite/car parking areas and the Clubhouse for the use of BRDC Members and their guests.
Dress Code
The Club’s normal dress code will be in force throughout the Silverstone Classic weekend. Please avoid embarrassment for all concerned by ensuring that your guests are aware of the requirements and meet them.
Grandstand Seats
There is no charge for Members or their guests to sit in the Clubhouse or Farm grandstands during the Silverstone Classic weekend.
Campsite
The Members’ Campsite is expected to be particularly popular over the Silverstone Classic weekend and early booking is advised. Please remember that the campsite is for Club Members and their accompanying guests only. Places may not be booked by, or for, non-members. Any person in a motorhome on the campsite who is clearly not with a Member will be asked to vacate the plot. Following abuse of this long standing Club rule by Members last year, all those booking a campsite plot will be required to sign to the effect that they understand and agree to abide by this Club rule and failure to comply may place their Club membership in jeopardy.
The Campsite will be open from Tuesday 22 to Tuesday 30 July 2013, which will allow Members to stay on for the Members’ Track Day which takes place on the Grand Prix circuit on Monday 29 July 2013. All motorhomes/caravans must display a BRDC Silverstone Classic Motorhome pass. If you have not received one in the post prior to your departure for Silverstone, one must be collected from the Club office before you will be allowed access through the main gate.
If you wish to leave your motorhome or caravan at the Farm after this event, please make sure you inform the Club office and move it to the hard standing at the eastern (Becketts) end of the campsite in order that the grass can be cut.
The shower block will be open for use by Members and their guests who wish to use the showers, toilets, washing machines or tumble dryers between the above dates. These are strictly for the use of BRDC Members and their guests and you will be required to swipe your BRDC pass over the readers to open the shower block doors.
There is no charge for Members to use the campsite at the Silverstone Classic.

The FarmLast year’s experiment in which we kept the Grand Prix marquee up at the Farm for the Silverstone Classic will sadly not be repeated. However, there will be a small bar and lavatories at the Farm for the use of those who take advantage of the Farm Grandstand.

The BRDC Silverstone Classic DinnerThe popular Members’ Classic dinner moves up a gear
as the Club joins forces with the Silverstone Classic
organisers in a show of support of this ever-growing
race meeting. The result is the BRDC Silverstone Classic
Dinner which will see the traditional Club event move
from the Clubhouse to the Wing.
This larger scale affair will retain the popular elements
of the BRDC event and features Members at the very
heart of the evening. The dinner will be opened up to
Silverstone Classic competitors who will be invited to
attend by the event organisers.
This inaugural BRDC Silverstone Classic Dinner will
celebrate the 50th anniversary of Jim Clark’s 1963
Formula One World Championship. It will therefore be
an unashamedly Lotus-focused evening and feature
special guests who raced with and against Jim and, of
course, were his friends.
BRDC Members will receive a 50% discount on the
ticket price for themselves and their accompanying
family. The cost of £49 per head includes a three course
dinner, with wine and coffee. Members are not able
to book subsidised tickets for (non-BRDC Member)
competitors in the Silverstone Classic, who will be
offered the opportunity to book their own tickets by the
event organisers. The dinner will finish in time to allow
you to enjoy (at least some of ) the Silverstone Classic
concert, if you so wish. It is very much hoped that this
will become an annual celebration of a significant
anniversary to which the Club can lend its full support.

The Chris Barber Band plays the BRDC Clubhouse – Sunday 28 July 2013
Jazz legend (and BRDC Member) Chris Barber has generously agreed to bring his band back to Silverstone to play exclusively for Members and their guests on the evening of Sunday 28 July 2013. This follows the fantastic reception he received last year and those who missed Chris in 2012 are strongly advised to make sure they don’t do so again!
The Chris Barber Band is one of the most influential groups in the history of British Jazz and next year Chris will celebrate 60 years of The Chris Barber Band. For many years a regular and hugely popular feature of the British Grand Prix, there will no doubt be enormous support for the return of The Chris Barber Band to the BRDC. This private Members’ concert provides the perfect excuse to let the traffic leave the circuit, whilst you enjoy this exclusive performance.
