These values are aligned with the Key Competencies of the New Zealand Curriculum. They will help in your child’s adjustment to a new surrounding by incorporating a self-belief and determination, in which will help them achieve both academically and socially at a higher level.

Attendance:Sir Douglas effectively manages student attendance at school through effective management and procedures that are updated constantly to keep pace with student movement

School Hours:Monday-Friday 8.30am-3.00pmSchool Office Hours:Monday-Friday 7.30am-3.30pm

Canteen:Students are advised to come to school with a prepared lunch. The school provides a canteen where students are able to purchase a light snack and other healthy refreshments either before school, interval or at lunchtime.

School Contribution:A contribution of $40 per year would help the school provide additional support for student resources to support learning and additional ICT tools. This contribution may be made at the beginning of the school year or at any time convenient to you. Some parents can choose to pay $10.00 per term.

Points of DifferenceWe are the only specialized intermediate school in the Mangere community. We cater specifically for the needs and requirements of students aged 10-13 years of age where we prepare our students for secondary school.

Our teachers are all well qualified and New Zealand registered. They are enthusiastic, caring and professional in their teaching of the New Zealand Curriculum.

Facilities and Programmes at Sir Douglas Bader Intermediate:Leadership: Students have many opportunities to develop leadership skills and qualities in our school. There are real opportunities to organize and run school assemblies and to specialize in curriculum responsibilities. In becoming a school councillor they will be given a range of opportunities to show their leadership qualities.

School HousesStudents belong to one of our four houses where they learn to promote Whanaungatanga and Manaakitanga. These houses will help the students focus on relationships and the values that are incorporated into these competencies.

The houses are Kotuku, Weka, Ruru and Tui. They relate to our native birds and represent the relationship and integrity that they hold in their natural environment. At Sir Douglas Bader Intermediate, we too hold these same values.
