SKILL PASSBOOK &CATCH UP PROGRAMME

FORGOVT. SCHOOLS OF HARYANA

AN INTRODUCTION..

A remedial program to bring Students of a specificgrade who are lacking in the competencies essential for that gradeand sometimes in competencies of previous grades .

Lack of flexibility in the system to help children catch up withothers and mismatch between the syllabus and the children'sability to learn were attributed as some of the plausible factors forthe low learning level.

Department has already initiated Learning EnhancementProgram(LEP)at primary level where students of each class from2nd to 5th are taught competencies of previous grade in the 1st hourof daily school timetable. Now this concept of workingon missed competencies of previous grade is beingwidened to all classes 1st to 12th and for all subjects

PROPOSED PLAN

It is proposed to give teachers a time at the end of each academicsession, in which they review the learning status of theirchildren and prepare a skill passbook for each student of his/herclass.

For every student, various skills will be marked as ‘√’ or ‘X’. These skill-passbooks will be handed over to each and every

student before he/she enters in new class on 1st day of newacademic session.

This period(April-May) can be utilized in a better way bypreparing students for the new class.

Instead of starting again the conventional routine class, studentscan first be assessed whether they have acquired the requisitecompetencies of the last class or not(as shown in their passbook).

If not, they all should join a Skill-Catch-up programwhich will bring them all to a common grade specific level.
