Tips to Avoid Career Ending Mistakes
• Keep professional and personal separate • Do not post anything you wouldn’t want your boss to see
• Consider your audience or context … don’t forget HIPAA
• Take care when letting off steam about your life, co-‐workers, boss or career
• Be aware of what you post on “sick days”
• Do not announce interviews, raises or new jobs • If you're unemployed, writing "Interview today –
wish me luck!" would be OK, or if you got a job,
something along the lines of "So excited about my
new job!" is totally acceptable.

• Profile: is your collection of the photos, stories and experiences that tell your story. Your profile also includes your Timeline, which is Facebook’s way of organizing your posts.
• Status (a.k.a. Post): an update feature which allows users to discuss their thoughts, whereabouts, or important information with their friends.
