Introduction Thank you for booking ‘IT’S SHOWTIME’ for your school. I shall be in contact with you well in advance of the dates to discuss your song choices for the 8 participating classes and to arrange the scheduling of the ½ hour work sessions, dress rehearsal and evening concert for the parents. From the songs found in this guide, I know your teachers/program leaders will match up the right songs with the classes. Students should be encouraged to learn to sing as much of their song as possible and/or to perform the suggested activities. Feel free to improvise. The intent of this program is to make it a fun and enriching performance experience which they share together with me on stage for their families. Once I arrive in the morning of the first day and have set up my equipment on your stage, the classes will visit with me individually to rehearse and fine-tune their songs. For the concert I shall provide all of the musical accompaniment and where necessary, sing along with the students. If the children have prepared their songs well, we usually have some time left to explore some ‘world instruments’ that I bring along. This also allows us to get comfortable and familiar with each other.

For scheduling, I propose having 6 rehearsal sessions on the first day and the remaining 2 sessions before lunch on the second day. The dress rehearsal can take place any time in the afternoon, where other classes are invited to be in the audience. The evening concert can take place any time after 6PM. The duration of the concert is generally 45 – 50 minutes. I very much look forward to visiting your school and to work with your students. [spoken] “Make way, make way! I think I hear A herd of elephants drawing near Stand aside, we need to clear this place These animals need a lot of space" Big elephants step from side to side They’re terribly big and terribly wide They’ve got no fingers, got no toes But goodness gracious what a nose! If you’re lucky you can ride on his back He’ll walk for miles and miles of track He’s clever and wise beyond his years And he loves it when you tickle behind his ears You can wash his face you can scrub him hard Or you can hose him down in my backyard Feed him leaves, feed him hay And twigs will surely make his day And after he’s washed and when he’s fed Before it’s time to go to bed He’ll want to play a little more And do a ‘two-step’ on the floor - [guitar solo for ‘elephant dance’] Make way, make way, I think I hear A herd of elephants drawing near Stand aside, we need to clear this place These animals need a lot of space

Two alligators in the swamp Doing the alligator stomp Two alligators in the swamp Doing the alligator stomp Now take a gator by the hand Step to the music of a Cajun band Clap your hands! Stomp your feet! And walk your gator down the street. Ayee! You can roll your eyes, you can wiggle your nose But you better not step on your gator's toes. Tippy toe Swing to the left, swing to the right We're nice alligators, we don't bite. Ayee! Now throw your hands up in the air We're a little bit crazy but we don't care One thing gators love to do Is jump up high and shout "yahoo!" Jump up high and shout, “yahoo!”
