Daniel Shaw

In difficult times, we all cling to the things that make us happy. Unfortunately, over the past few months, many of those things in which we find solace have been taken away from us. The situation is no different for those of us in the realm of the performing arts. We have seen shuttered theaters, shows ending their runs, and plans for future productions thrown out the window. Given the dire nature of challenges our society is facing, some people might argue that theatre and the arts are currently unnecessary. But, if there is anything that the past few months have shown me and anybody who feels a strong connection to the arts, it is that creativity and the celebration of human artistry are anything but unnecessary.

For this season, we PEMCo producers made it our mission to ensure that musical theatre stays alive on campus. When my fellow produc-ers and I were discussing potential themes for this Revue, we decided on two potential paths. Either we have a theme that directly addresses the difficulties that we are all facing, or we have a theme that creates a moment of escape from those difficulties. We decided on the second path and, soon after, Gettin’ Out of Town: A PEMCo Revue was born! During the past months, we have all been cooped up in our houses/dorm rooms and many of us have been deprived of intended travel plans. During the hour and fifteen minutes that you will be spending with us, we hope to take you on the journey for which so many of us are longing.

The logistics for planning an in-person performance this semester have been incredibly difficult. I thank my fellow PEMCo producers and the rest of the production team for bearing the weight of many of these difficulties. I would also like to thank my wonderfully talented cast and my music director, Solomon Duane, for their flexibility and willingness to make art with us through these challenges. To our audience, thank you for supporting the arts during this moment in history. Let’s take a moment to enjoy live theatre together!

H A R R I S O N B R O U S S E AU ( “A N T HE M ” ) Harrison Brousseau, in the spirit of the approaching Halloween Holiday, has decided to haunt PEMCo from beyond the grave. A relic of a bygone era, he has been relentless in his insistence that he is, in fact, still a student at Notre Dame. Despite his ghostly paleness and ghoulish screeches in the night, he was excited to hear the production team threw this skeleton a bone and allowed him to sing in this semester’s cabaret. Hopefully this performance will allow his soul to finally rest. RIP Harrison Brousseau (19??-2020) G R AC I E C O NL O N ( “ S TAT U E S A ND S T O R I E S ” ) Gracie is a sophomore at Saint Mary’s College who intends to major in English Literature and Secondary Education. She is so excited for the opportunity to perform again, and she would like to thank everyone who made the revue possible!

K AT I E C O U R Y ( “ TA K E ME T O T HE WO R L D ” ) Katie Coury is thrilled to be in her sixth PEMCo production! She is a junior Political Science major with minors in ESS, Italian, Musical Theatre, and Theology. She is originally from Phoenix, Arizona, but calls Ryan Hall home. When Katie is not studying or rehearsing, you can find her walking backwards across campus as a Tour Guide. She would like to thank her family, friends, and PEMCo for their love and support and hopes you enjoy the show!

A ND R E W C R E C C A ( “ FAV O R I T E P L AC E S ”/A S S O C I AT E P R O D U C E R ) Andrew is a junior biology major hailing from Long Island. He’s very excited to act in his fourth PEMCo production. Andrew has a phobia of large birds, including ducks, so the cast’s duck-like singing masks have caused him psychological trauma. However, he is extremely grateful to still have the opportunity to do what he loves with the people he loves despite these strange times. He’d like to thank all the members of the PEMCo community whose hard work and creativity helped make this show possible.

S H A NN O N DA L E Y ( “ S U MME R I N O HI O ” ) Shannon is a senior living in Lewis Hall studying Neuroscience and Musical Theatre. She started her PEMCareer singing Serious from Legally Blonde and is excited to be channeling Elle Woods for part of her performance this evening. Here at ND, Shannon has performed in Guys and Dolls, several PEMCo revues, and what would have been Jesus Christ Superstar this past spring (rip). She serves as the Social Commissioner for PEMCo and is very grateful for the tight knit community that PEMCo has provided her with.

M A R Y K AT E G O D F R E Y ( “ D O N’ T WA NN A B E HE R E ” ) Mary Kate Godfrey is a sophomore Political Science and Global Affairs student from Elizabethtown, KY who lives in Pasquerilla East Hall. When not rehearsing with PEMCo, Mary Kate enjoys running, reading, researching with Fr. Bob, and eating free ABP in the library with her friends. This will be Mary Kate’s third show with PEMCo, but her first wearing an enormous and vexatious, yet COVID-safe, singing mask that gives her the appearance of a duck in St. Joseph’s lake. Quack quack!

S Y D NE Y HE L L E R ( “ I T R OA R S ” ) Sydney is a sophomore Electrical Engineering major from East Moline, IL, currently living in Lewis Hall (Go Chicks!). Around campus, she is involved in PEMCo (obviously), SWE, TEA, Chorale, and TransPose. When Sydney has time to take a break from solving circuits and isn’t at club events, she can often be found performing unsolicited concerts in her dorm room. Sydney is excited to join the PEMCo family and perform showtunes for people who actually want to listen to them.

DAV I D H U R L E Y ( “ W HE N I D R I V E ”/ ” T R AV E L S O N G ” ) David Hurley is a junior studying Electrical Engineering from San Jose, California that resides in St. Edward’s Hall. C A S E Y L E I MB AC H ( “ I R E L A ND ” ) Casey is a junior from Wantagh, New York majoring in Biology and Theology, and she is so excited for her third PEMCo show! Previous roles include pretending to play the trombone in Guys and Dolls and a stressed out eunuch in Forum. Around campus, you can also find her in napping in Walsh Hall, researching cancer cells in lab, or at club softball practice, all while wearing the best mask on campus (#street smarts!). Big thanks to the cast and crew for an awesome show!

Elizabeth is also a proud member of BandCo since she spends the rest of her free time playing the saxophone in the Notre Dame Marching Band.

M A R K ME H O C HKO ( “ T HE I MP O S S I B L E D R E A M ” ) Mark Mehochko is a theatre loving PLS major from Morris, IL. He lives in Knott Hall and spends most of his time trying to be funny, but only succeeding half the time. He wants to thank his family for the tremendous amount of support they give him.

T I M O T H Y ME R K L E ( “ O U T T HE R E ” ) Tim is a sophomore living in Baumer Hall and is in his first PEMCo production. He is a double major in Film, Television, and Theatre (Theatre Concentration) and Applied and Computational Mathematics and Statistics. Originally from Castle Pines, Colorado, he loves the cold but misses the sun. He is a Town Hall 11 in Clash of Clans and could give anyone the smoke at any moment. Tim also runs for fun so take with that as you will.

A sophomore from Pittsburgh, PA, Tommy lives in Keough Hall (Go ‘Roos!) and is studying Political Science with minors in musical theatre and business economics. Tommy sings with the Echoes a-cappella group, and recently performed as Burrs in The Wild Party, in I’m Alive! a PEMCo Revue, and Heathers. Tommy is a proud member of the Notre Dame Glee Club, and would like to thank his friends, family, and the production team!

M AYA P U T E R B AU G H ( “J O U R NE Y T O T HE PA S T ” ) Maya is a Junior marketing and film double major from Irvine, CA. She has been doing theatre since 3rd grade, but this is her first performance with PEMCo - though she’s been on the email listserv since freshman year. She’d like to thank her dad for telling her to try something new this semester and Kathryn for raving about PEMCo all the time, both of which got her here.

C HR I S T I N A R A NDA Z Z O ( “ S A N TA F E ( P R O L O G U E )” ) Christina is a sophomore Psychology major living in Welsh Family Hall and this is her first PEMCo production! She plays clarient in the ND Marching Band, is a member of NSR (where she will be playing Cassius in next week’s production of “Julius Caesar”!), and has a personal pogo stick jumping record of approximately 3,500 consecutive jumps! L AU R E N B AU M A N ( A S S O C I AT E P R O D U C E R ) Lauren Bauman is a junior from Bloom-ington, IN, who is so excited to be a co-Associate Producer with the one and only Andrew Crecca! She is a history and pre-health major and proudly lives in Pasquerilla East Hall, the original home to PEMCo <3 She’s been obsessed with the group ever since her freshman year production of Guys and Dolls, and can’t wait for another great year!

R YA N C O U R Y ( A S S I S TA N T S TAG E M A N AG E R ) Ryan Coury is ecstatic to help usher his cast/crewmates onward to victory as assistant stage manager in his first PEMCO Production. Over the last six years, he has served tender, strong, and true in productions both on and off the stage in his hometown of Phoenix, Arizona. What though the odds be great or small, Ryan also aspires to graduate with a degree in marketing in 2024. He thanks you all in advance for sending cheers on high, and hopes you love thee show.

C A R O L I NE C R AW F O R D ( S TAG E M A N AG E R ) Caroline is a sophomore in Walsh Hall studying economics and English. She is excited to be a part of her second PEMCo show, and she has loved getting to know all of the amazing cast and crew.

S O L O M O N D UA NE ( M U S I C D I R E C T O R ) Solomon is a sophomore Architecture major from Chesapeake, VA, living in Dunne Hall with minors in Musical Theatre and (hopefully) Furniture Design. He is a member of the Drumline (playing xylophone) as well as a classical ivory-key-tickler and vocalist. When he isn’t drafting in the architecture studio while jamming to musical theatre tunes, Solomon can be found eagerly defending mildly-problematic Golden Age musicals and studying roller coasters.

J I MM Y D U K E (C O - P R O P S M A S T E R ) Jimmy Duke is a sophomore Electrical Engineering major from the DC area. He is a spacious young lad for sure, but always does his best to get the job done if you remind him enough times (including writing this bio). Whatever role he is given, he is always happy to contribute to the arts scene in some form. He would like to personally thank God for giving him the strength to gather 2 of the 5 props used in this show as well as his accomplice Tom for making a trip home to get one of the other props and just being an all-around good guy.

GA B R I E L L E E VA N S ( E X E C U T I V E P R O D U C E R ) Gabrielle is super excited to help put on PEMCo’s first ~in person~ production of the 2020-2021 season! She is a senior studying Political Science and Film, Television, and Theatre. This is her 8th show with PEMCo, though she remembers her first one like it was yesterday. She would like to thank the entire company for making this possible and keeping the magic of theatre alive on campus.

S U MME R K E R K S I C K ( A S S I S TA N T S TAG E M A N AG E R ) No, my favorite season is not summer.

L I A M M O O R E ( P R O D U C T I O N M A N AG E ME N T P R O D U C E R ) Liam Moore (‘22) is a Political Science and FTT double major currently residing in Dunne Hall, though he is originally from Indianapolis, IN. The two main passions in his life are PEMCo and the Notre Dame Marching Band (Go ‘Nets), so he spends most of his time with one of these two groups. He is super excited to serve as the Production Management Producer this year!!! PEMCo >>>>> life

T O M PA MPA L O NE ( P R O P S M A S T E R ) This is my second show with PEMCo and I’m happy that we can still do this despite the current setbacks. I did sound last time but apparently that was hotly contested this year, so I’m glad that I was still offered a position in the show.

L I LY P I E R S O N ( S O U ND & L I G H T D E S I G NE R ) Lily is a sophomore studying Computer Science and living in Pasquerilla East (Go Pyros!) This is her 2nd show with PEMCo after building the set for The Wild Party. She must say her new job is far less dangerous! Lily is a member of the virtual archery team and the coolest place she has ever travelled to is Ireland! She hopes you enjoy the show and thanks you for your support.

J O HN S AY U T ( T E C HNI C A L D I R E C T O R ) John is a junior studying Mechanical Engi-neering at ND. If he’s not running events as Dillon Hall President or fixing robots with Robotic Football Club, he’ll be helping out with PEMCo. He performed in Guys and Dolls and Wild Party, and has helped build sets and run lights for other productions. He would like to thank the production team and cast for their hard work during this difficult time!

DA NI E L S H AW ( D I R E C T O R /A R T I S T I C P R O D U C E R ) Danny is a senior, PreProfessional and Sociology major from Pittsburgh, PA. His birthday is May 4, and he is left-handed. A former resident of Keenan Hall, Danny is best known for his repeated role as head stripper of the Keenan Revue. He has been working with PEMCo since the beginning of his first year and PEMCo has meant the world to him during his four years at ND. It has been an honor for Danny to direct this show and work with this wonderfully talented cast. Stream Chromatica.

C HR I S T I N A S I E B E N ( S O U ND & L I G H T D E S I G NE R ) Christina is a sophomore architecture major living in Ryan Hall, and she’s excited to revisit her love of technical theatre for her first PEMCo production. She spends most of her time drawing, either for school or for fun, and playing trumpet in the marching band.

K AT HR Y N S T R I MB U (C O S T U ME D E S I G NE R / P H O T O G R A P H Y ) Kathryn is a junior Biology Major originally from Crown Point, IN, currently living in PW. She has significant experience putting clothes on actors, most recently for The Wild Party, and has been snapping snazzy pictures for PEMCo since her first semester freshman year. She also plays clarinet in the Band, which constitutes approximately half of her personality. She would like to thank PEMCo for keeping her sane and putting up with her bubbly personality and coffee-drinking habits.

B E R I TA N G K A (C O S T U ME D E S I G NE R / P H O T O G R A P H Y ) Beri Tangka is a sophomore industrial design major from Dacula, Georgia who could not be more excited to be a part of his first PEMCo production! After watching The Wild Party last year, he knew he had to join. When he is not working on the production, you can often find him practicing his tuba for Marching Band or Concert Band. He lives in Keenan Hall and loves listening to podcasts.

E L I Z A B E T H T R AV NI K ( E X E C U T I V E P R O D U C E R ) Elizabeth Travnik has had quite the PEMCo journey. From Girl-Who-Makes-Noises-With-Her-Feet to Girl-Who-Can-Only-Com-municate-With-Her-Foot-Noises(-Because-She-Has-No-Tongue) to Ultimate-Boss-Lady, the only things that haven’t changed are her love for PEMCo and her ability to make foot noises. Ever busy, she’s also Drum Major of The Band of The Fighting Irish! That’s right, that’s her waiving her arms around every marching band performance! How does she do all this? Please see the above title of “Ultimate-Boss-Lady”.
