Early this month, the iconicColonnade restaurant closed it’sdoors for good leaving just a simplenote on the door for potential pa-trons to read explaining the sale.Fans of Colonnade were shocked andleft in disbelief as they read theirbeloved restaurant had been sold to adevelopment group who will beturning the site into luxury water-front condos.

“They had a blackened Grouperthat was to die for. My dad will be

very sad to find out the Colonnadehas been sold. My family and I havebeen coming here for almost adecade,” says Carla Dubis.

Even the employees were blind-sided by the sale. Some employeeshad worked there for years and ab-solutely loved the ownership . Oneemployee, who has decided to re-main anonymous, told us they gen-uinely hope a new location pops upsoon because she enjoyed her time asa waitress here very much. She got to

know many of the local residents andthe regulars became like family, onecouple even invited her to their wed-ding.

The view of the Bay from insidethe restaurant was beautiful so as youcan imagine, window seats were al-ways in high demand. Now with lux-ury condominiums going up in thenear future the view from inside fu-ture residents homes will be of thebay and downtown Tampa. Thosekinds of views always come with a

hefty price tag but the developersscored the land from the formerrestaurant for a mere 6.2 millionbucks according to county records.

Many of us are sad to see TheColonnade go but at least a numberof families will enjoy the chance tolive on Bayshore in style. I’m surethe developers who bought the loca-tion will do an excellent job in creat-ing a condominium that will makeTampa proud.

Our Tampa Bay lightninghave made the Stanley Cup playoffsyet again with excellent play all aroundfor the entire season despite many keyplayer injuries. Most notably, lightningstar Steven Stamkos is out for the play-offs following an April 4th emergencysurgery for a blood clot that actuallyrequired one of his upper ribs to be re-moved. Luckily the rest of the teamseems to have stepped up in his ab-sence and continued to win games

even without their Captain on the ice.Reminiscent of last years playoff push,Tyler Johnson has proven to be a RedWings killer with textbook assists andtenacious play; it’s just beautiful towatch, classic hockey. He has emergedas the number one player the RedWings want to shut down this postseason which has opened the door forexcellent play from other Lightningscorers such as Nikita Kucherov. In arecent ESPN interview talking about

how Johnson has become the numberone threat for the Red Wings he said,“It’s a team game. I’ve been very for-tunate that my line has been playingwell and everyone is contributing andsteps up.”The Red Wings knew theLightning’s top line of Johnson,Kucherov and Alex Killorn would at-

tack very aggressively thisplayoff series but I don’tthink anyone could predictthe astonishing play ofKucherov so early this postseason. He’s one heck of aplayer but most of us Light-ning fans are very impressedwith how muchKoooooooch has taken offin the playoffs. Living upto just about every series be-tween the Lightning and theRed Wings, fights have bro-ken out just about every 2minutes.The old hockey say-ing goes, the fans came outfor a fight and a game ofhockey broke out holds truein this series more than ever.As of today, press date, theLightning are set to take on

the Red Wings for game 5 leading 3-1. I will be walking across the bridgeto Amalie Arena tonight and cheer onour home team. I’m confident we willwin and by the time you read this wewill be beating up on our next victimsin the playoffs! Go Bolts!

Another Stanley Cup Playoffs For Tampa Bay!
