STATUS UPDATE
Project Idea: LED jump rope. Status:
It will light up LEDs based on information from an accelerometer; displaying text will come with testing.
Initial goals will be light LEDs as a counter, then we will attempt to display text.
Parts: MiniPOV – handheld kit to display text with LEDs Atmega88 – to replace kit microcontroller for added
A/D converter ADXL330 – accelerometer LED jump rope – for the housing ideas

ARCHITECTURE
Idle
Indicator LED turns on,
LED rope turns on for 3 seconds
Sensor detects acceleration
Leds turn on based on
sensor output
Indicator LED turns off
User presses on button
User Jumps
User presses off button
USE CASES
Normal: User > Power On (indicator on) > Jumps >
Obtains information from LEDs > User > Power Off (indicator off)
Timeout: User > Power On (indicator on) > No
acceleration detected (for 30 secs) > Power Off (indicator off)
Broken LED: User > Power On (indicator on) > Startup check
> User > Power off (indicator off)
RISKS & MITIGATION
Risks Mitigation
Weight -Batteries will be the heaviest-Use fewer batteries-Looking into self generating power
Broken LED(s) -After testing determine quantity of spare LEDs per unit/amount of protective casing on the rope to minimize this from happening.-Return for repair.
Malfunctioning (incorrect output data)
Send in for repair/replacement under “warranty”
Battery Life -Include dimmer for longer lasting-Looking into self generating power
Physical side effects (headache/dizziness/etc.)
Supply unit with general warnings.
