We had two hours to spare, so after lunch some wandered into the town, but there were several attractions around the railway at the butterfly farm we saw one emerge from its jewel-like chrysalis, exotic specimens flying amongst tropical plants, and terrapins so static we thought they were plastic models until one or two suddenly slid into th e water. From there, on to watch the otters swim and play ; and for those who really only came for the trains (!) a museum and a miniature railway. Our thanks to Pat for organising the day, and to Miles who, on behalf of Platon, paid our entrance fees to see the butterflies and otters. We were disappointed that so few were able to make it, and missed those that had wanted to join us but were prevented (especially Val who boarded our train at St Austell, heard she was on a train to Glasgo w, so jumped off!). We would welcome sugg estions from members for outings or other social events at the moment our events calendar runs out of steam after September! August  no meeting 14 September  We will be welcoming Plymouth Lary Club at Devoran for a soup and sandwich lunch plus cakes, etc, to be followed by the joint meeting. Once again, we are delighted that Platon will be supporting us as Miles will be there to talk about any new developments. PLEASE let us know if you plan to join us as we need to have some Idea of numbers for the catering. Coming up for discussion at our September meeting:   Should we set up a Speak Easy website? Widening active membership we could put Radio Cornwall on our events calendar (perhaps for October) and then ask them to give us a mention. Hospital book serv ice. Val has come up with the idea of delivering a selection of up to date books, preferably paperbacks (each with bookplate giving our Club name and contact numbers) to the Ward. Collection and exc hange of the s election could be done in conjunction with her delivery of “goodybags”. In June, Ron and Rosemary joined The Recovery Club for a most enjoyable meal at The Godolphin, Marazion. Fund raising: Do you have any bric-a-brac, books, in fact anything except clothing, for our car boot sales? Ron and Val are gathering items for Pool in August and Lostwithiel in September, but can arrange collection, otherwise please bring along for the September meeting. There are two folding tables (larger than pasting tables) available from Val if anyone else would like to undertake other events for the Club. Good news that Colin is feeling better - we look for ward to seeing him back again. SP PEA AK K EA AS SY Y club No. 48 6 July 2011
