DEER PROTECTION PROGRAM & CWD TESTING:

Our industry is committed to the health of wild cervids and the sport of hunting. That is why our industry, with the help of the Archery Trade Association, worked with Wildlife Disease Experts, Scientists, Urine Collection Facilities, and Manufacturers to create and establish the Deer Protection Program, to even further safeguard our urine sources and protect this precious resource. Since 2014 when this program began, our urine based scents proudly display the Deer Protection Program Checkmark demonstrating our participation and compliance with the program. Wildlife Research Center®, as a leading manufacturer of quality hunting scents, partnered together with another leader in our industry to fund a study with CWD Evolution, LLC. It led to a CWD testing protocol known as the RT-QuIC test process, that is specifically designed for testing deer urine. This allows manufacturers of deer and elk scents to test and verify that no CWD is detected in the urine used in their products. While the risk of urine-based scents spreading CWD is virtually zero, the test verifies that no detectable levels of CWD are found, and provides a final confirmation that the products are safe for use and without risk of spreading CWD. All of our urine-based scents produced since 2019, are tested and certified by CWD Evolution™ that no CWD was detected. Our Urine-Based Scent Packaging now displays the RT-QuIC Tested logo confirming the product has been tested.
