Opportunities

Opportunities and Threats

▪ The security of Australia - Using secure, connected, mobile, intelligent systems to keep

Australia safe in an era of increasing and rapidly evolving threat

▪ Connected Health – particularly in the area of de-identified data sets to aid decision making and

nationwide secure systems interoperability

Threats

▪ Timely decision making at all levels of Government – average decision making cycle still in

excess of 1 year in spite of rapid technological changes and disruption

▪ Global players still often preferred – despite changes in policy position by the Government

SWOT Process

▪ Solutions with deeply embedded IP/IC – not easily able to be replaced and once implemented,

must be supported for at least 4 years (incumbency matters)

▪ Requiring deep domain knowledge of the environment

▪ With the requisite clearances and process knowledge

▪ Price not key determinant of decision
