Dear Parents and Caregivers,
With the memories of New Year’s Eve and the magnificent Sydney fireworks display fading, it
is the perfect time to celebrate the Chinese New Year, heralding the Year of the Monkey.
The Chinese students under the guidance of Mrs. Wu have decorated the Bondi Campus
appropriately for the occasion. Explanations of the significance of certain symbols were
shared with the school at both assemblies.
The new Year 7 students, having enjoyed a very successful camp at Stanwell Tops, appear
to have settled in well. The objective of integrating the students new to Reddam with those
from the Primary School exceeded everyone’s expectations.

The Year 8 Camp at Mowbray Farm was also a hit with the students and one forgets that a farm is
a foreign environment for the vast majority of our students, but one that is filled with the wonder of
nature and the simplicity of life. A truly great experience for young city children.
The Year 9 Camp at Wiseman’s Ferry where action activities were the order of the day was a fun
filled three days. Leadership, teamwork and group dynamics were emphasised in the build up to
the Year 9 students stepping into the Junior Executive positions and leading the Middle School.
My thanks to Mrs. Karney, Mr. Johnson and Mrs. Pelosi who organised the camps for their respec-
tive year groups. The feedback from parents, students and staff who attended all the camps has
been exceptionally positive.
The Year 11 Parent Information Evening on Thursday was well received by parents and it was a
wonderful opportunity to socialise and get to know other parents whose children are in the same
year group. There is nothing quite like facing the common hurdle of the Preliminary HSC to galva-
nise a group.
The Year 12 Art students head off to Hobart this weekend for their visit to MONA. Mrs. Symonds be-
lieves that this weekend has the same value to her art students as a month of lessons. Total art im-
mersion for three days is what they have ahead of them: heaven.

Student achievements that have come to my attention include:
Adina Herz was one of the stars of a horror film which is to be released in Singapore on
the 3rd March and in USA & Malaysia thereafter. The link to The Faith of Anna Waters is as fol-
lows: https://vimeo.com/150150917
Congratulations Adina, another budding Hollywood star in our ranks with movie credits to her
name.
Sam Hurwit who lives, breathes and sleeps baseball played in the NSW State League champi-
onships over the holidays and his team ended up winning the Grand Final. They now go to
Nationals in Lismore in May. A wonderful outcome for a fanatical player.
Have a great week ahead,
Dave Pitcairn

brings huge joy to residents. Scones4Good is a highly interactive experience that brings huge warm smiles to
participants of all generations. Cost: $30/head Minimum participants: 20 Please note – our rates do not in-
