Apprenticeships are a great way to build your skills, knowledge and practical experience of working in sports coaching as they combine practical, on-the-job training with study.

The Activity Leadership Intermediate Level Apprenticeship will lead you to gain nationally-recognised qualifications in:

Level 2 NVQ Certificate in Activity Leadership nutritionists, physiotherapists and programme managers

Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Learning in Physical Education and School Sport

Level 2 Award in Employment Awareness in Active Leisure and Learning

The Supporting Teaching and Learning in Physical Education and School Sport Advanced Level Apprenticeship will lead you to gain nationally-recognised qualifications in:

Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Supporting the Delivery of Physical Education and School Sport

Level 3 Award in Employment Awareness in Active Leisure and Learning

Where apprentices do not already possess the desired Maths & English qualifications, the learner will complete the Functional Skills qualifications.

AS AN APPRENTICE YOU’LL:

work alongside experienced staff

gain job-specific skills

earn a wage and get holiday pay

study towards a related qualification (usually one day a week)

YOU CAN APPLY FOR AN APPRENTICESHIP WHILE YOU’RE STILL AT SCHOOL. TO START ONE, YOU’LL NEED TO BE:

To work as a sports coach, you will need to be able to plan and deliver training sessions. You will also need to inspire confidence and motivate your students. You will need determination, patience and a supportive approach towards those you coach.
