7TH ANNUAL JOB FAIR

Wednesday, April 24, 2019 the 7th Annual Porterville College Job Fair took

place in the Porterville College Gymnasium

from 9:00am -12:00pm. Every year between

9:00am - 9:30am Porterville College reserves

priority of entrance for Veterans and their

families. This year the event had over 50

employers, 700 attendees, and 80% of

participants who attended this years event

stated they received job leads. Employers

who attended this event reported hiring 113

candidates at the Job Fair and 88% stated

they also connected with potential candidates.

It was a successful event and we look forward

to next year!

WE HAVE MOVED

The JEC Center has moved. We are now

centrally located on campus in the Academic

Center Building Student Services (AC) 121. We

provide personalized services and programs to

help you achieve your career goals. Services

offered by the JEC Center are free and available

to our students, alumni, and community

members. Services we offer include: Job Searching Assistance

ELEVATOR PITCH COMPETITION

Monday April 1st at 5:30pm in the Porterville College Theater five teams gathered to compete for

their chance to win first, second, and third place in Porterville College's Elevator Pitch Competition.

Each team was given an opportunity to present their business ideas to a panel of judges: Jason

Ridenour from the City of Porterville Economic Development Department; Monte Reyes CEO

Porterville Chamber of Commerce; Rob Taylor Owner Stafford's Chocolates; and Sunny Basra from

Basra Enterprises. The final teams were then given sixty seconds to present their elevator pitches as a

refresher to the panel of judges who then had a ten minute opportunity for a Question and Answer

session. First place winners took home a total of $350 was Wock's, water proof socks a team of dual

enrollment students from Summit Charter Collegiate Academy. Second place consisted of a team of

Porterville College students presenting Topical Paradise, topical CBD products taking home

$250. Dulcet, a delivery food service specializing in authentic foreign food you can cook at home

also a team of dual enrollment students from Summit Charter Collegiate Academy coming in third and

winning $100.
