entertainment there is! New learners are welcome, and chess "masters" are challenged

Cribbage Friday 1 - 3:30 pm Program Room (no April 18)

Fee: $1 Drop In

Activity Liaison: Dorothy Bennett

Cribbage involves playing and grouping cards in combinations which gain points. The

game has several distinctive features: the cribbage board used for scorekeeping, the

eponymous crib or box (a separate hand counting for the dealer), two distinct scoring

stages (the play and the show) and a unique scoring system including points for groups

of cards that total fifteen. (source: wikipedia.org)

Beginners welcome; however, basic knowledge of the value of cards and how to count is recommended.

Duplicate Bridge Wednesday 6:15– 9:30 pm Card Room Fee: $1 Drop In Activity Liaison: Catherine & Jim Haiste

Duplicate bridge is called duplicate because the same bridge hand (i.e. arrangement of cards) is duplicated at other tables, in order to allow a fair comparison of playing skill and reduce "luck of the cards". In this way, every hand, whether good or bad, is played in competition with others playing the identical cards, and the element of skill is height-ened whilst that of chance is reduced. (source: wikipedia.org) Newcomers and beginners welcome. Partners are encouraged, but if you do not have one please contact the Activity Liaison who may be able to pair you up with another player.

Hand & Foot Canasta Wednesday 1– 3:30 pm Card Room Fee: $1 Drop In Activity Liaison: Dorothy Bennett

This version is a quad deck game that is played with a hand and a foot, unlike tra-ditional canasta that just has a hand. Hand & Foot is a Canasta variant involving four to six decks rather than two and is played by teams of two players. (source: wikipe-dia.org) Beginners welcome.

Mahjong TBA A game that originated in China, mahjong is commonly played by four players (with some three-player variations found in Korea and Japan). Similar to the Western card game rummy, mahjong is a game of skill, strategy, and calculation and involves a degree of chance. (Source Wiikipedea) We are thinking about starting a club at SEESA. If you are interested in playing please sign up on the Program bulletin board.

Chat Room Monday April 14, May 12 & June 9 1 - 3 pm Library

Fee: 41 Drop In

A Chat Room is a place to learn and to discuss ideas. Carol Kodish-Butt will present a monthly

topic and share some concepts for the first hour. Then it’s time to hear what you have to say

for the second hour. In the spring series, we’ll be focusing on the art of communication. April

14th, we will learn about the Fine Art of Listening and ask ourselves how well we truly listen.

On May 12th, our topic will be Can We Talk? Looking at Communication. And on June 9th, we’ll

use those tools to identify and cultivate Assertive Behavior.

Why go to a Chat Room? First, it’s fun. It’s great to have a place to just bounce ideas around

and share your thoughts.

Second, it’s a chance to learn about things we do every day – communicate with those around

us. Third, it’s a comfortable couple of hours in the library, just getting to know each other. So

try it – you’ll like it. And we’ll have new topics in the fall so you still have all that to look forward

to! Come drop in and chat with us!

Social Circle Social Circle is a program for a group of people, who might otherwise be isolated, to come

together to have a quiet discussion in the library and then share lunch together in the SEESA

cafeteria. Social Circle meets every Thursday from 11 am - 1 pm in the SEESA library.
