A British viceroy also had said ‘three-districts-only’: Aiyar on Shah’s remarkSays mistakes committed by Congress, NC, PDP in the past
ABID BASHIR
Srinagar, May 23: Senior Congress leader and former union minister Mani Shan-kar Aiyar Tuesday said BJP chief Amit Shah’s assess-ment of Kashmir situation is “totally wrong”, because a British viceroy had also claimed that India’s prob-lem was confined to three districts only.
He also admitted that the “mistakes” committed by Congress at the Centre and regional parties like Nation-al Conference and PDP from time to time were largely responsible for the “Kash-mir problem”.
Talking to reporters on the sidelines of a seminar organised by the Centre for Peace and Progress, ‘Kash-mir Issue, A Road Ahead’, Aiyar said, “Before the free-dom (of India) then British viceroy Lord Linlithgow also claimed that that dis-turbance was only in two
to three districts in India. Now Amit Shah is saying same that there is distur-bance only in three districts in Kashmir, which is totally wrong.”
He said India won free-dom despite Linlithgow’s claims.
