POPE FRANCIS—PRAYER INTENTIONS FOR FEBRUARY
Evangelization: Welcome the needy, That all those who are afflicted, especially the poor, refugees, and marginalized, may find welcome and comfort in our communities.
Pastor’s Corner
Blessings,
Fr. Mark Bentz
Lent is rapidly approaching and I’m excited! Penitential seasons give us the opportunity to get rid of things and habits which aren’t helping us get to heaven,
as well as take on new practices that draw us closer to God. I always recommend that we give up something as well as do something extra. I would really challenge all of us to consider cutting back on screen time for Lent and use the time saved for prayer, scripture reading, or charitable activity. I know I’m in need of some more peace in my life, and that can only be found when we spend time with the Prince of Peace! Think about what you would like to do as individuals and as families now, so that when March 1st comes, you’re ready to start right away! Don’t let Lent sneak up and pass you by! Thank you to all those who gave and pledged support for the Archbishop’s Catholic Appeal last weekend. As I announced, our parish goal is roughly $28,000 ($28,180.55). This boils down to about 30$ per family if all our registered families pitch in—very doable! The appeal supports all the ministry offices at the Archdiocese which exist to help us serve you more effectively. As I mentioned, I’m really excited about developments in the marriage and family life office as well as Faith Formation—stay tuned for more cool projects! I will give you regular updates on how we’re doing as I get the information. If you haven’t made your pledge yet, please do so as soon as you can. Also, remember to check out www.formed.org —our parish bought a subscription for you to use it at anytime to enrich your faith. Just sign up for an account with our parish code VVWGPT. There are tons of movies, books, cds, and instructional series on every aspect of the faith in english and spanish. Have a great week and don’t forget to pray every day! Fr. Mark

Pope Francis - @Pontifex 4:30am - 9 Feb 2017
In the Gospel Jesus says: “Whoever fulfills and teaches these commands shall be great in the kingdom of God.”
By your gift to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul you indeed put your faith into action as you fulfill the commands of Jesus.

I want to thank everyone who contributed to our
5th Sunday "Bucket Collection" this past Sunday which
amounted to $368.We've had an
unusual December, monthly totals being 9 visits
resulting in 9 hours of volunteer time seeing 12 adults
and 10 children we traveled 76 miles. Our Cost was
$250. for beds, clothing and household items. 2 weeks
of our month was cut short because of Holidays along
with snow and ice. Our 2016 totals were 322 adults,
298 children served with 255 visits and volunteer
hours. This past Sunday of 2017 we helped a
homeless man with motel expenses and time
amounting to about 8 hours and 35 miles of travel.
Then a couple from out of state ran out of
any resources for gasoline. Time-travel and
expenses 4 hours of time 15 miles of travel were
involved. $240. went towards those 2 incidents.
