PEOPLE OF GOD ORGANIZED HOLDS ITS FIRST GATHERING The initial gathering of members from East Nashville churches met at Eastwood Christian Church on November 15th. The attendance was larger than anticipated (170) as representatives from city service departments and the police department spoke. Each of East Nashville’s city council members came and spoke as well. All made a commitment to work with POGO in future efforts to improve our neighborhood and to address the findings of the neighborhood audit.

When it comes to owning pets, we may not be as green as we think. Luckily, there are lots of resources to help us be eco-friendly the next time we adopt and care for a dog or cat (or any other acceptable pet). Make sure
you buy a durable collar or leash, so you don’t replace it over and over again. Always clean up after your pet. A printable pet food buying guide is available at http://www.mnn.com/family/education-activities/blogs/green-food-for-green-pets. Having trouble remembering to take your reusable bags to the store? Try charging yourself $ .25 for every plastic bag you use. It’s a great incentive to get you to go back to the car and retrieve those reusable bags. When you have enough change saved, you can make a donation to your favorite charity or buy more reusable bags. REDUCE, REUSE, RECYCLE. Too much stuff around? Consider a garage or yard sale and donate the proceeds to environmental causes of your choice. Perhaps you could fund some green blocks to your church’s electric power use or fund some extra activity for church school that would help introduce environmental issues to children. It’s no secret that we’re fans of local food. And just like politics can be local, what you put on your table for Thanksgiving can get there by traveling a very short distance. Make a commitment to eating a locally grown and raised Christmas meal this year. Whether you commit to finding everything within 100 miles of where you live, or you venture to the local produce section of the supermarket, making sure you’re using food that came from nearby will reduce your carbon footprint. ST. ANN'S DELEGATES FOR THE 178TH ANNUAL CONVENTION OF THE DIOCESE OF TENNESSEE
The delegates from St. Ann's are Rosemary Burdeshaw, John Bledsoe and Tom Hardin. The alternates are Julia Thompson, Carol Mannchen and Gary Fitzhugh. The Annual Convention will be held at St. George’s, Nashville on January 22/23, 2010.
HAVE YOU MADE YOUR 2010 PLEDGE? If not please consider making this important stewardship commitment to St. Anns. We build our annual budget based on the money pledged by parishioners each year. We plan for the new year based on what we expect to receive during the year. At present we have 72 number of pledges for a total of $238,656. Last year we had 87 pledges for a total of $268,576. In past years we have relied on reserve funds to make up the difference and these reserves are fast depleting. The present path is not sustainable. Without additional pledges we will have to cut a significant amount from the operational budget and this will have an impact on our ministries. Thank you for your prayerful consideration of a pledge to St. Ann's in 2010.

TITANS’ PARKING FOR HOME GAMES - VOLUNTEERS NEEDED Members are needed to assist with parking for Titans’ home games on December 13th (3PM), December 20th (Noon) and Christmas Day at 6:30PM. The Music City Bowl will be held on December 27th at 7:30PM. Volunteers are asked to be available 2 hours before the game. The income from Titans’ parking allows us to meet the debt service on the loan for the purchase of the land without including it in our operating budget expenses. The parking income from the Music City Bowl game is designated for the EYC to help fun the 2010 Mission Trip. If you can help, contact Paul Donley at 826.1278. We need your help!

YOUTH AND CHILDREN MINISTRIES
EYC HAPPENINGS One of our youth, Abby Hemenway, is working on her Silver Medal for Girl Scouts. The Silver Award gives Girl Scouts the chance to define what's important to them and make a difference in the lives of those around them. She is working on a community project to help fill the needs of those in our area. She needs donations of the following: 2 yds of fleece (to make blankets) winter hats gloves / mittens scarves coats
Our EKC will be helping with this as one of their service projects for the year.

CHILDREN’S PLAY FOR THE 5:00PM CHRISTMAS EVE SERVICE
Barrington Bunny The play is based on a Christmas fable written by Martin Bell, an Episcopal priest, singer, lecturer and storyteller. This story is traditionally told on Christmas Eve in a number of churches. It is a story that expresses the meaning of Jesus’ life and death. The themes include Jesus’ teaching that we are all a part of one family; the unconditional love of God; that God calls us to love one another; we are all given special gifts to share with the world; and that God is always present with us in life and in death.
