Today’s Readings First Reading — As a garden makes its growth spring up, so will GOD make justice spring up before all the na-tions (Isaiah 61:1-2a, 10-11). Psalm — My soul rejoices in my God (Luke 1:46-50, 53-54). Second Reading — Do not quench the Spirit. Do not de-spise prophetic utterances. Test everything; retain what is good (1 Thessalonians 5:16-24). Gospel — I am the voice of one crying out in the desert, make straight the way of the Lord (John 1:6-8, 19-28).

Friends & Fellowship The next free meal will be this Sunday, January 14, from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. ABBA Father Prayer Group will prepare the meal. This meal is for anyone in our area who needs a free meal or just some company and fellowship. Thanks to all our parish groups who help us in this good cause, including the committee members.

Friday Night Devotion of Eucharistic Adoration We are inviting everyone to participate in our Friday Night Devotion of Eucharistic Adoration every last Friday of each month. The Blessed Sacrament will be exposed in the Chapel from 6 p.m. until 12 midnight. From 8p.m. to midnight will be silent Adoration. We will have this devotion on December 29th. Hospitality Sunday Please join us on Sunday, December 17th, after the 7:15, 8:30, and 10:00 a.m. Masses. Free coffee and donuts in the parish hall. Meet your fellow parishioners. Thank you to our Hospitality Committee for all their nice work and the Men’s Club who donates the donuts every month.

St. Edward Women's Club Fiesta and Fun Monday, December 18, 7:00 - 9:00 p.m.

Drivers For Survivors Volunteers Needed

Drivers For Survivors is a non-profit organization that provides free transportation service and supportive companionship for ambulatory cancer patients who live in the Central and South Alameda County areas (Fremont, Newark, Union City, Hayward, Castro Valley, San Leandro, San Lorenzo, Ashland, and Cherryland). We have several general volunteer opportunities available. We are also in great need of volunteer companion-drivers. If you have a good driving record, we would love to train you…let’s talk!
