We would like to create a St Faiths Tea Towel that everyone in our school community contributes to. Each child will be asked to draw a small self-portrait and write either their initials or first name. If for any reason, you do not wish your child to participate please drop me a line at [email protected] We will have these ready for purchase by the beginning of the Summer Term. We have not completed a project like this since 2011, so I hope you will enjoy the product once it is created. Further details to follow soon. Please support us by keeping updated with our news in the flyer and via our Friends of St Faiths Facebook page. Have a super weekend. Vicky, Alison & Zoe The Awards keep coming in! ISA AWARD for Outstanding STEAM PROVISION 2020 The ISA Awards celebrate the breadth of excellence and innovation across the independent sector, and recognise the hard work of Headteachers and their staff. This past year has been unprecedented for all, but one thing that has remained is the dedication and hard work from our staff to push on and continue to offer an excellent education to all the children in their care. Before announcing the winner of the Outstanding STEAM award the judges commended our dedication to the whole school STEAM days which encourage critical thinking, creativity, problem solving and collaboration. Have you seen the video of our fantastic STEAM Team accepting this prestigious award? Clearly we are overjoyed and proud to have won. Well done Team St Faiths RHS Level 2 School Gardening Award I am pleased to announce that St Faith's has achieved RHS Level 2 School Gardening Award. To achieve this award, we had to submit evidence (written & photographic) about the gardening activities that have been happening in school over the past year. The panel were very impressed by the transformation of the Nature Garden and the variety of flowers and vegetables that we have been growing. In recognition of this, we will receive an RHS book about gardening which I am sure will continue to inspire us further in the year to come. We will also receive a certificate to display. Feeling confident from our gardening success, Mrs Smith has also entered us for the Level 3 School Gardening Award, and has focused our Mini Activity on wildlife by the installation of the pond. Fingers crossed as we could win a £50.00 voucher! Heads Corner Noisy lunch hall, classrooms full, car park busy, excitable childrenanyone might think Im complaining, but far from it. Collaboration, enthusiasm, exhilaration and productivity now adorn all classrooms once again. St Faiths is at its very best when all the children are back and busy, and I can speak for all the staff in saying, We wouldnt want it any other way!

St Faithian Summer Term w/e 12 March 2021

Now that the whole team is back in school we thought it would be nice to mark the occasion with a whole school Friends project. The Awards keep coming in! ISA AWARD for Outstanding STEAM PROVISION 2020 The ISA Awards celebrate the breadth of excellence and innovation across the independent sector, and recognise the hard work of Headteachers and their staff. Head’s Corner Noisy lunch hall, classrooms full, car park busy, excitable children…anyone might think I’m complaining, but far from it. Collaboration, enthusiasm, exhilaration and productivity now adorn all classrooms once again. St Faith’s is at it’s very best when all the children are back and busy, and I can speak for all the staff in saying, “We wouldn’t want it any other way!”

SPORT: It’s good to be back in the gym!

Year 1 were excited to get back into PE lessons on their first day back at school. Our new equipment was out and ready for use. They really enjoyed warming up on the movement and agility stations. It was active and social.

Nursery News! Upper Nursery have focused on Mothers Day. They have coloured, painted and lovingly crafted cards to take home to give to their mums on Sunday. Happily, they took turns to say why they love their mummies and enjoyed the investigation table which had flowers, presents and cards on... all the things that the children said their mummies would like. They even had their feet painted to make beautiful butterflies to decorate their cards. We hope you like them and wish you all a happy Mothers Day!

Music this week It was wonderful to be able to have more music in school this week. Year 6 have begun working on their end of year show, Rock Bottom, and Year 5 have had a go at doing some composition. They worked in small groups and had some brilliant ideas! Children in Reception and Nursery have been doing lots of songs with actions (and silly words from Mr Ainsworth!) while other year groups have been getting back to learning the recorder and violin. Next week we will get some music groups underway again and give even more children the chance to make music together!

Year 6 Assembly — Pupils turn teachers! Year 6 had a treat for their RE lesson this week as their teachers were fellow pupils! Two of our Sikh girls were so keen to share knowledge of their faith that they accepted a challenge to prepare a lesson for the whole class. Working brilliantly as a team, they presented an informative PowerPoint about Guru Nanak, founder of Sikhism, and then set a task to the classes to produce a fact file based on what they had learned. Both girls answered questions with confidence and everyone enjoyed their lesson. Fabulous work, girls. You have great teaching careers ahead of you if you want!

Lower Nursery Children in the Turtle room were lucky enough to enjoy a music session with Mr Ainsworth in the glorious sunshine in our nursery garden.

The children sang along to familiar songs such as ‘The Wheels on the Bus’ and, always a favourite, ‘Head Shoulders Knees and Toes.’ What great fun it was to enjoy the fresh air whilst singing along to our favourite songs!

Science Week

“The most important thing is to never stop questioning,” Albert Einstein.

British Science week is a ten-day celebration of everything scientific which runs from 5 – 14 March. Our celebrations have been slightly different this year but we have still found the time, during one of the busiest teaching weeks I have ever known, to celebrate! Smashing stereotypes has been a tag line of the event this year and at St Faith’s each year group has been celebrating the diverse people and careers within Science and Engineering. Children in Year 1 have studied Ole Kirk Christiansen: the inventor of Lego. Year 2 looked at the work of Rachel Carson, a scientist who studied ocean habitats. Year 3 learnt about Inge Lehmann, a seismologist who concluded that the earth has a solid core in the centre. Whilst Year 4 learnt about Maria Telkes the first scientist to build a house powered by solar energy.

The children have also taken part in a range of hands on ‘Dyson Challenge’ experiments.
