Congratulations and welcome to Scarlett Marie Morrison, parents James & Navonna, who was baptized recently at St. Joseph the Worker. May her life be richly blessed by God.

Seeking Church Door Greeters In the last few months you have noticed Door Greeters welcoming you to church periodically. We are in the process of adding this ministry on a regular basis and seek your help. A welcoming smile and greeting as you open the door for all attending church is the first encounter for those who enter. We ask that you would be at your position at the church door 15 minutes ahead of mass time. Just think what a difference you can make! Having had Protecting God's Children for 18 and older is needed. Please contact Fr. John, Sr. Judy or the parish office for this new ministry and let us know what mass time you attend.

Welcome to St Joseph the Worker If you are new to the area, or have been coming but haven’t registered, we are pleased that you have chosen to worship with us. We welcome you to become a member of our parish family. Please greet Fr. John or Sr. Judy after Mass to hear more about St. Joseph the Worker and to receive a Welcome Packet. A member of the Welcome Committee will also be in touch with you after we receive your registration form.

concisely sums up the Gospel message. In even more condensed form, “God

loved… God gave…,” it is the paradigm for stewardship - we give because we love.

Dominican Associates If you’re looking for a way to enhance your spiritual growth, being a Dominican Associate may be that opportunity. Associates of the Dominican Sisters of Springfield deepen their baptismal commitment by accepting God’s call in their lives to live out the Gospel of Jesus and to embody the Sisters’ charism of spreading the Word in the spirit of Saint Dominic. If you are a baptized Christian, 21 years or better, you are eligible to seek candidacy as a Dominican Associate. To find out more about the Associate Program of the Dominican Sisters, visit their website at www.springfieldop.org, call Sr. Mary Joan Sorge, OP, at 787-0481, or talk to Sr. Judy here at St. Joseph the Worker. Single women, men or couples are welcome. Dominican Associate brochures can be found in the church pamphlet holders.

Restored Order at St Joe’s As you have heard by now, the Springfield Diocesan Synod passed the vote to move Confirmation back to its original order, which means that (in our parish) by the year 2022, all children in level 3 will receive Confirmation and First Communion at the same Mass. Our three year transition will follow the plan below.

2019

· Level 5 & 6 Confirmation (Both grade levels confirmed together)

· Level 2 First Communion

2020

· Level 4&5 Confirmation (Both grade levels confirmed together)

· Level 2 First Communion

2021

· Level 3 & 4 Confirmation (Both grade levels confirmed together)

· Level 2 will begin preparation for both Confirmation & First Communion and loop that prep to their 3rd grade year (No First Communion Mass this year)

2022

· Sacraments of Initiation will be restored to their original order, which means that Level 3 students will receive both Confirmation and First Communion at the same Mass.

· Level 2 students will begin preparation for both Confirmation & First Communion and loop that prep to their 3rd grade year.

Note: Solemn Reconciliation, which occurs in the 4th grade year, here at St. Joe’s, is still under discussion as to how/where that may still be included. Information will continue to unfold as the summer progresses.
