A cup of Joe . . .
Greetings in Christ! I pray that God bless you and yours with His love and light this day. I wanted to focus the bulletin this week on the upcoming Welcome Weekend. While Holy Family is hosting, we are hoping for both of my Parish Families to take part in it. Since I've got here, I've been blown away by the sheer number of people who have participated in the Welcome Weekend and had their lives transformed by it. Last time we offered this for men, we didn't have much interest at all and so we had to cancel. It is my hope that each man reading this will take a moment and ask "God, do you want me to go?" I think sometimes, we get in trouble because we look at scheduling the spiritual around the question "Do I have time to go?" For me, my life changed for the better when I realized that the most important question I can ask in regard to spiritual questions centers around me asking God "Do you want me to?" When I was a younger man I stopped asking how someone like me could or should ever be a priest and starting asking "God, do you want me to be a priest?” Too often, we treat our relationship with God as another option, as a thing we do if we have extra time. To that, I invite us to remember Jesus words "Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and everything else will be added to you." So...that's my pitch. Gents, I'm asking you to pray about it and respond accordingly. I don't think anyone who goes will regret it. With that, here is the information you'll need to attend
Men's Welcome Weekend Saturday March 16th 8:30 am to 9:00 pm and
Sunday 8:00 am to 4:00pm. Great meals - friendly talk - no overnight stay - no cost

To close out this article, I wanted to let you know that I'll be heading off with some of my family for a vacation at the end of this month. I'll be leaving after the noon mass on February 24th and coming back the next week. I'm very excited for this, my brain is tired! Please pray that I have a safe trip and restful time. God bless you, my two beautiful Parish Families!

Christian Service Donation Recently, the Parish made a Christian Service donation to The Lingap Children's Foundation and they were most appreciative. We thought you might like to see part of their response: "The Lingap Center is an orphanage located in Toledo City, Cebu, Philippines. We cater to the abused, neglected or abandoned children of the community, providing a safe haven for them, where they can have food to eat and a safe place to live. All 100 of our children in residence are now in school and since we opened the new facility in March of 2006, we have had 28 college or vocational graduates. Former street children have received bachelor's degrees, a master's degree and one has just been accepted into medical school! Previously, as street children and beggars, they were not welcomed into the church. However today, thanks to the Lingap Project, they are now the altar servers and in fact, they are the official church choir. In January of 2016, our choir was a part of the larger choir that performed at the International Eucharistic Congress which took place in Cebu City...Thank you so very much for your support." Please see the picture of one of these children on our bulletin board.
INSEPARABLE Faith and works are like the light and heat to a candle; they cannot be separated.

Ron’s thoughts….. How did you enter church today? Did you come into church with the, "Let's get this over with attitude"? Did you come today hoping that father would move along quickly because you have a lot to do today? Are you thinking about why your here or are you thinking about what you could be doing instead of spending this one hour wasting your time? Did you come here out of obligation or did you come here because you really wanted to? Did you come into the church hoping to be entertained or to experience God? I am sure there are many reasons why you are here today and what attitude you come here with. One thing is for sure, how you come to church opens the door for what is going to happen to you once you leave. Being ready for worship, in mind and soul will help you to worship. There will be no more "ho hum" experience. I guarantee you that your experience of celebrating the Eucharist will never be the same when you realize once and for all that church is you and me standing before our maker and saying "I love You, let's see what we can do with me this week Lord." Sounds corny, but it's true. Let yourself go in what is happening, listen to the prayers, don't just recite them. Listen to the words of the songs, don't just repeat them. Watch the faces of the faithful, don't just ignore them. Truly partake of the Body and Blood, don't just eat the bread and wine. Come...... excited, ready, prepared, open-minded, in-love, faith-filled, weak or strong, just come ready to worship God and watch the change that takes place! Walk the talk! Be Peace! Dcn. Ron ([email protected]) THANK YOU! On behalf of the St. Mark Youth, thank you for your generosity to our Super-Bowl of Caring Collection on February 3rd.
