grades six through twelve from Holy Family Parish, Precious Blood
Parish, St. Joseph Parish and St. Mary Parish. We invite young peo-
ple to receive Jesus Christ’s love and mercy through experiences,
relationships, and prayer. We challenge young people to grow in
personal relationships with Jesus Christ and one another as we en-
counter the life and mission of our Catholic faith community and
become disciples of Jesus Christ to share the good news with our
world.

St Mary Church Picnic - September 10
St. Mary Quilt Show will be Thursday, August 24, noon to 6:00pm. Tell your family and friends. If you have a
group quilt at home, please bring it to the parish office so we can get ready for the quilt show. Group quilt money can be sent in at any time. A $35 donation is all it takes - no quilting required.
Picnic Tickets are ready for pickup. Help us get them distrib-uted to your co-workers, friends and family. Check out the new ticket - Colts vs Steelers Football tickets. Proceeds from this ticket sale go toward the new church.
Picnic Flyers can be found in the back of church. Please pick some up and distribute throughout the area. Extra advertising is always appreciated. We will also post this on Facebook. Sharing and liking will help get the word out.
Grab Bags - Start looking for summer bargains - you can drop these items off at the parish office or the container in the back of church. Check out Walgreens, Dollar Store and CVS sum-mer clearance sales. Lots of items are needed.
Country Store - We have room in our freezers for fruit for the items that are made for the country store or make your jelly and we will store that until picnic time. Look for bargains on sugar, flour, nuts and throw away pans. We will be glad to store these items too. When making your summer time relish or salsa, be sure and make a couple extra for picnic
Theme Baskets - Start thinking about your theme baskets. Some ideas: car care, movie baskets, gift cards basket, cooking basket, game baskets, home-made jelly and jam basket, etc. We have had so many great baskets in the past, drop your basket off at the parish office before picnic day.
Volunteers - If you are available to work an additional shift, there are some stands that could possibly use extra help. Great way to get to know parishioners!
Stand Chairmen - Please check with your workers and update your list. If you need more help, contact the parish office. It has also been recommended that we use name tags for our work-ers. If your stand would like name tags, let the office know.
Yard signs are available on the parish office porch. Please help us advertise our picnic by displaying them in your yard or at your business.
We are in need of 2 or 3 golf carts on picnic day to help shut-tle people from their parking spaces and volunteers to drive them. Call the office if you have a golf cart we can use.

“Building For Our Future”
Thanks to all who have donated to our “Cans for Campaign”. There
is a trailer in the parking lot for you to bring your aluminum cans
when you come to church or as you are driving by to go to work.
Keep our parish in mind when you have your summer parties. Mon-
ey raised from this project will go to the building of the new church.
The “Building For Our Future” Campaign would like to reach out
to former parishioners who might have an interest in giving to the
new church. If you have a friend or relative who you think might be
interested in making a donation, please let the parish office know
either by phone or email what address we could send them some
information.
New Members Welcome - Registering in a parish is a declaration of
your desire to be part of a Catholic community and a commitment to
the life of a parish family. Being a registered parishioner makes
things easier when it is time for infant Baptism, religious education
registration, weddings, when asked to be a baptismal or confirmation
sponsor, buying a burial plot and even funerals.
We are often asked by other parishes to provide affidavits for baptis-
mal and confirmation sponsors. We can only do this if a person is a
registered, active, and contributing member in our parish. How do
you know if you are already registered? A registered parishioner
receives all parish mailings and monthly tithing envelopes. Registra-
tion forms are available by calling or stopping by the church office.
Prayer for the Election of a Bishop
O God, eternal shepherd,
Who govern your flock with unfailing care,
Grant in your boundless fatherly love
A pastor for your Church
Who will please you by his holiness
And to us show watchful care.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
Who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
One God, for ever and ever.
Please help us defray the cost of postage by picking up your
Religious Education Registration form in the back of church and
returning it back to us. Middle School/High School classes will begin
Wednesday, September 13th.
More Catechists are always needed and welcomed to join our team.
We have a great number of youth that attend our program. If you are
interested, please contact Martha at [email protected] or call 812
-482-7041, ext 45. It is very rewarding to be able to pass on the
Catholic faith to our youth. Lessons plans are ready for you and very
easy to follow. If you feel you are not qualified, just know that “God
does not always call the equipped - He equips the called”.
Thank you to everyone who donated plastic bottles for Katelyn
Sander’s scout project. No more are needed - thanks so much for
your help!

Everyday Stewardship
Parishes can create major obstacles in developing transformational stew-
ardship spirituality when they proclaim the message is not about money.
The message comes out that way usually as a reaction to years of misin-
formation that stated that stewardship was all about the money. The fact
of the matter is that our treasure is an extremely powerful gift from God
that can change lives for the better or destroy them. It can never be ig-
nored. And because money holds such a prominent place in human life,
what we choose to do with it directly reflects our understanding of what
it means to be a good steward and disciple of Jesus Christ.
When one understands that discipleship concerns one's entire life and
being, as opposed to what one does on Sundays and an hour of service
here or there, then money simply becomes one of the many gifts we cul-
tivate and share in our stewardship. How we use our money reflects more
about our understanding of discipleship than our attitude toward wealth.
The widow giving her two coins in Mark's Gospel said more about her
spirituality than it did her pocketbook. We can assume that her generosi-
ty extended beyond the synagogue treasury. Good stewards everywhere
understand that a check in the collection basket is not what stewardship
is about at all. Stewardship is the acknowledgement that every check and
every dollar needs to be used in a mature manner and for the glory of
God. Buying clothes for your kids, trips to the grocery store, and paying
for lunch with a friend are all ways of exercising good stewardship.
Stewardship is about money and everything else we have been given. If
we focus on any of our gifts too much we miss the point. Our goal as an
everyday steward is to be like that widow, giving what God called her to
give and not counting it as a loss. The call may be for money, time, pray-
er, skills, talents, or compassion. Our response is a key to transformation.
