WHY DO THEY COME ONLY ONCE A YEAR FOR THAT PIECE OF

PALM?

SECOND GUY: THAT PIECE OF PALM

MAY BE GOD’S WAY OF SAYING:

WELCOME HOME

PALM SUNDAY 2020

A DAY OF CONTRASTS

Palm Sunday is indeed a Day of Contrasts. We have two sets of readings: Victory and Defeat. We have two sets of moods: Triumph and Tragedy. We have two groups of people : the regulars: who a end every Sunday and the visitors who a end because it is the beginning of Holy Week. And we have two a tudes: yes to get a piece of palm, maybe to place over their cross at home, to place it on a grave, or use it as book mark. And then that other a tude: why do THEY come only today; THEY are the A&P Catholics, Ashes and Palm Catholics.

Well. Yes I do no ce an increase in a endance on Palm Sunday. If you have come a er having been away for some me, remember that piece of palm could very well be an instrument of God’s grace. To you who have come a er a long absence, I say: Welcome to your Father’s house. This is you home.
