* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * The Second Collection -- this weekend is for the Little Sisters of the Poor. The Sisters have been caring for the aged poor in the state of Virginia for 145 years. Their home in Henrico, Virginia provides care for the aged, regardless of race, floor, nationality, or creed. Your financial support would be gratefully appreciated. 2019 Bishop's Lenten Appeal -- is critical to our diocesan needs and we are asking every household in our parish to support this appeal to the extent that they are able. The BLA funds many programs, services and ministries that serve people in need and furthers the Gospel mission of Jesus Christ in our diocese. If you have not yet done so, please remember to turn in your BLA envelope. Thank you! NEEDED -- Our Lady’s Rosary Makers need a person to cut and prepare strings used to make rosaries that are sent to missions and distributed throughout our diocese. The task is not time consuming but is a vital part of Our Lady’s mission of world peace. Please contact Aileen Bashista for more details, 703-979-8373 or [email protected].

Perpetual Adoration -- “O Holy angels, make me see God on the altar as you see Him in heaven,” ~ Blessed Brother Andre We are currently in most need for adoration members on: Sundays 3 a.m.-4 a.m.; Thursdays 5 p.m.-6 p.m.; Saturdays 8 a.m.-9 a.m. and 5 p.m.-6 p.m. To sign up for an adoration hour, or for more information, contact Rosemary Duffy at 703-256-4468.

EnCourage -- is a support group for faithful Catholics with same-sex attracted loved ones. What distinguishes the work of EnCourage is its commitment to offer faithful witness to Catholic teachings on sexual morality while addressing the needs of its members with charity and compassion. To this end, the group both professes an orthodox position on the immorality of homosexual acts and respects the human dignity of persons who have homosexual feelings. For more information about Courage International and other resources, visit http://couragerc.org. K o f C F r e e T h r o w C o n t e s t – T h e St. Michaels KofC congratulates - Jade-Michelle Perkins and Katherine Vargas who were District 16 Free Throw Champions. Come Walk With Me You are invited to an evening of spiritual reflection

with Irish tenor, Mark Forrest, Wednesday, April 17th, at St. Michael Church, starting at 7:30 p.m.

The Come Walk With Me evening is a time for us to reflect on our personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

During the evening, the blessed sacrament will be exposed and Irish tenor Mark Forrest will take you through an evening

of music, reflection, and healing. Consider taking an hour with the Lord as he invites you to a closer walk with him.

The 40 days of Lent have begun! The themes of Lent are Prayer, Fasting, and Almsgiving.

To help each of us grow in our prayer life we invite you to enroll in a parish wide, in-home study entitled “Into the Desert”. It involves a weekly lesson to watch us-ing FORMED.ORG with discussion questions to reflect on and share insights.

To register for this study, log onto FORMED and click the Community Tab in the tool bar, then select ‘Our Commu-nity”, and click on the button in the middle of the Into the Desert banner. When the banner is enlarged, click on “Join” on the left above the banner. You will be advised that you will get an email when your enrollment is ap-proved. That email will have a link directly to the study. Enjoy and be blessed in your study.

If you are not registered with FORMED.ORG, go to the parish website “stmichaelannandale.org” and there you will find a banner with a link to get you registered (your email address and a password you create). * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * BAD WEATHER/CHURCH CLOSINGS

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Bad Weather/Church Closings -- If it’s slippery and dangerous, or if there’s an abundance of snow, USE COMMON SENSE. Don’t try to come to Mass. If the Fairfax County Schools system cancels school due to weather, there will be nei-ther confessions nor the 8:30 a.m. Mass. If schools are delayed, there will be no confessions, but there will be 8:30 a.m. Mass. Elderly and disabled persons are encouraged to stay at home, or to attend the 12 noon Mass on those days. Fairfax County Schools, for congruous purposes, is simply an efficient means to follow. If the U.S. Government shuts down because of bad weather, we’ll do our best to maintain the Noon schedule because snow removal work should be well underway by that time – but there are no guarantees. For the safety of those shoveling and plowing the snow, gates will be closed and the entrances will be blocked by cones. (Please do not drive around the cones.) You can receive email notices -- from Fairfax County Schools by signing up via this link: https://public.govdelivery.com/accounts/VAEDUFCPS/subscriber/new (or use the internet search engine: “Fairfax County Schools closings”). U.S. Government closings because of the weather, of course, are pretty big deals and news is easily accessible from television reports.
