Domingo de Ramos: 20 de Marzo Que tengamos la valentía de defender nuestra Fe a través de un dialogo respetuoso cuando sea necesario. "Yo te digo, Pedro, que antes que el gallo cante esta noche, me negarás tres veces" (Lucas 22:34) ¿Cuantas veces has oído a alguien hacer un comentario despreciativo acerca de Jesús o de la fe católica? ¿Cómo reaccionas? ¿Te mantienes callado para no causar problemas o lo que es peor, porque no quieres que tus amigos o familiares piensen de ti negativamente? Reza para tener la valentía de hablar e iniciar un diálogo respetuoso.

Palm Sunday: March 20 That we have the courage to defend our Faith through respectful dialogue when the time arises. “I tell you, Peter, before the cock crows this day, you will deny three times that you know me. “ (Luke22:34) How many times have you heard someone make a disparaging comment about Jesus or the Catholic faith? How do you react? Do you remain quiet not to cause a disturbance or worst yet, because you don’t want your friends or family to think negatively about you? Pray for the courage to speak up and enter into a respectful dialogue.

Un Mensaje de Nuestro Pastor Que Dios bendiga a todos, esta Semana Santa! por favor, entren en la plenitud de los eventos y acti-vidades de esta semana, los misterios por el cual he-mos recibido el renacimiento. La primera Semana Santa era un tiempo de caos, de la traición, del miedo y la violencia- que tengan ningunas de sus semanas estas cosas! Pero, si lo ocurre, nada le turbe; favor de mantenerse fieles. Jesucristo es el testigo fiel que, a través de todas estas cosas, llevó a cabo nuestra sal-vación. Mantenerse fieles a El, para que Dios pueda llevar a cabo su salvación y la de todo el mundo. Incluso cuando estamos en estado de agitación, Dios siempre está haciendo algo nuevo. Estamos tratando de seguirlo aquí. la semana pasada, las nuevas parti-ciones subieron en el salón parroquial. en unas pocas semanas, esperamos conseguir los terrenos de la pa-rroquia encuestados, de modo que podemos empezar a reemplazar a la Casa Borski. Más en ese proceso en las próximas semanas. ¡Gracias a todos por su ayuda con las preparaciones para la Semana Santa, la Sociedad del Altar, el comité de la Liturgia y todos Ustedes por su participación. Por favor, oren por los catecúmenos y otras personas que van a recibir los Sacramentos esta semana- que Dios siempre llene cada uno de ellos-- y todos nosotros tambien! - con la gracia y la paz. A Message from our Pastor Happy Holy Week, y'all! I hope each of you enjoy it! please enter into the fullness of this week's doings, into the mysteries by which we receive new birth. That 1st Holy Week was a time of chaos, betrayal, fear, and violence- may your week have none of these things! But- whatever comes- please stay faithful. Jesus Christ is the faithful witness who, through all of these things, brought about our salvation. Stay faithful to Him, so that God may bring about your salvation and that of all the world. Even when we are in turmoil, God is always doing something new. We are trying to follow him here. This past week, new partitions went up in the parish hall. In a few weeks, we hope to get the parish grounds surveyed, so that we can begin to replace the Borski House. More on that process in weeks to come. Thank You everyone for all the help preparing for Holy Week, the Altar Society, the Liturgy committee and all of you for your participation. Please pray for the catechumens and others receiving sacraments this week- may God always fill each of them-- and all of us!-- with grace and peace. Proclaim the Gospel with your lives- "Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord! Peace in heaven and glory in the highest.” -Fr Tom

MEDICAL MISSIONARIES OF DIVINE MERCY MISSION NEWS Support our Medical Mission to Grano de Oro, Costa Rica!

Fr. Tom has graciously opened the door at St. Patrick’s for MMDM to do a mission appeal the weekend of April 2-3, 2016 in support of our mission efforts. Our mission expenses include corporate overhead for mission promotion, communication systems, mission planning trips, medical equipment storage, and office space, plus expenses for the Costa Rica mission and for the Laredo Mission where we serve three outreach missions in Zapata, Rio Bravo and El Cenizo. Mission expenses include travel, housing, meals and related items needed for sustenance for the missionaries. Missionaries pay for all of their related mission expenses. We are at 85% of mission budget at 3 weeks before the Costa Rica Mission plus we need funds for related corporate overhead expenses for pre-mission meetings in Costa Rica. Please drop a check or cash in an envelope marked to MMDM at the parish office or drop it in the collection basket at Mass on April 2 or 3. Please help us make this corporal and spiritual mission a success.

March 20, 2016 Palm Sunday of the Passion of the Lord

PASSION The word “passion” connotes deep, focused engagement. It also relates to passivity, interestingly. The deeply passionate person in the Gospel narrative from Luke is Jesus. He appears passive, but he is not. He is wholly self-possessed and wholly present for the one day that begins on Thursday evening at his last meal with his apostles and ends with his burial before sunset the next day. Then follows the long Sabbath silence. The narrative of the Passion is read whole and without pause on the Palm Sunday of the Passion. This story, found in each of the Gospels, is unchanging. We are the ones who change. Each year, we bring ourselves with another year’s history to hear and heed the story we so badly need. Life has its way with us, and we look again to the Passion narratives to learn to follow. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.

20 de marzo de 2016 Domingo de Ramos “de la Pasión del Señor”

PASIÓN La palabra “pasión” conlleva un profundo y determinado compromiso. Pero es interesante que también tiene relación a la pasividad. La persona profundamente apasionada del relato evangélico de Lucas es Jesús. Parece pasivo pero no lo es. Está totalmente consciente de sí mismo y totalmente presente al día que comienza el jueves por la noche en su última cena con los apóstoles y termina con su entierro antes de la puesta del sol el día siguiente. Entonces le sigue el largo silencio del sábado. El relato de la pasión se lee entero y sin pausa el Domingo de Ramos en la Pasión. Esta historia, que se encuentra en cada uno de los evangelios, no cambia. Somos nosotros los que cambiamos. Cada año, nos presentamos con otro año de historia para escuchar y hacerle caso a esta historia que tanta falta nos hace. Faith Formation Classes are offered for the 1st through 12th grades. Registration begins in August. Throughout the year, there is an open registration for students enrolling in a non-sacramental preparation class.
