1. Open wide the doors to Christ, Let him shepherd you. Welcome him into your heart, That your love be true. For Christ is the Light, And Christ is the Way, And Christ is the Love who loves you.

2. Open wide the doors to Christ, Show to all his face. Live for others as he lived, Filled with truth and grace. For Christ is the Light, And Christ is the Way, And Christ is the Love who loves you.

#291 ENTRANCE: Open Wide the Doors to Christ

RESPONSORIAL PSALM: “Blessed are those who fear the Lord.“

FIRST READING: FROM THE BOOK OF PROVERBS PRV 31:10-13, 19-20, 30-31

When one finds a worthy wife, her value is far beyond pearls. Her husband, entrusting his heart to her, has an unfailing prize. She brings him good, and not evil, all the days of her life. She obtains wool and flax and works with loving hands. She puts her hands to the distaff, and her fingers ply the spindle. She reaches out her hands to the poor, and extends her arms to the needy. Charm is deceptive and beauty fleeting; the woman who fears the LORD is to be praised. Give her a reward for her labors, and let her works praise her at the city gates.

The word of the Lord. THANKS BE TO GOD.

A READING FROM THE HOLY GOSPEL ACCORDING TO MATTHEW MT 25:14-30

Concerning times and seasons, brothers and sisters, you have no need for anything to be written to you. For you yourselves know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief at night. When people are saying, "Peace and security," then sudden disaster comes upon them, like labor pains upon a pregnant woman, and they will not escape.

But you, brothers and sisters, are not in darkness, for that day to overtake you like a thief. For all of you are children of the light and children of the day. We are not of the night or of darkness. Therefore, let us not sleep as the rest do, but let us stay alert and sober.

SECOND READING: FROM THE 1st LETTER OF ST. PAUL TO THE THESSALONIANS 1 THES 5:1-6

The word of the Lord. THANKS BE TO GOD.

Jesus told his disciples this parable: "A man going on a journey called in his servants and entrusted his possessions to them. To one he gave five talents; to another, two; to a third, one --to each according to his ability. Then he went away. [Immediately the one who received five talents went and traded with them, and made another five. Likewise, the one who received two made another two. But the man who received one went off and dug a hole in the ground and buried his master's money.]

"After a long time the master of those servants came back and settled accounts with them. The one who had received five talents came forward bringing the additional five. He said, 'Master, you gave me five talents. See, I have made five more.’ His master said to him, 'Well done, my good and faithful servant. Since you were faithful in small matters, I will give you great responsibilities. Come, share your master's joy.’ [Then the one who had received two talents also came forward and said, 'Master, you gave me two talents. See, I have made two more.' His master said to him, 'Well done, my good and faithful servant. Since you were faithful in small matters, I will give you great responsibilities. Come, share your master's joy.’ Then the one who had received the one talent came forward and said, 'Master, I knew you were a demanding person, harvesting where you did not plant and gathering where you did not scatter; so out of fear I went off and buried your talent in the ground. Here it is back.' His master said to him in reply, 'You wicked, lazy servant! So you knew that I harvest where I did not plant and gather where I did not scatter? Should you not then have put my money in the bank so that I could have got it back with interest on my return? Now then! Take the talent from him and give it to the one with ten. For to everyone who has, more will be given and he will grow rich; but from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away. And throw this useless servant into the darkness outside, where there will be wailing and grinding of teeth.'"]

The Gospel of the Lord. PRAISE TO YOU, LORD JESUS CHRIST.

1. Will you let me be your servant, Let me be as Christ to you; Pray that I may have the grace to Let you be my servant, too.

2. We are pilgrims on a journey, We are trav’lers on the road; We are here to help each other Walk the mile and bear the load.

3. I will hold the Christ-light for you In the night-time of your fear; I will hold my hand out to you, Speak the peace you long to hear.

4. I will weep when you are weeping; When you laugh I’ll laugh with you. I will share your joy and sorrow Till we’ve seen this journey through.

#303 OFFERTORY: The Servant Song

Holy Michael the Archangel, Defend us in battle...Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray; and do you,

O Prince of the heavenly host, by the divine power thrust into hell Satan, and all the other evil spirits who wander through the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.

1. Make us true servants to all those in need, Filled with compassion in thought, word, and deed; Loving our neighbor, whatever the cost, Feeding the hungry and finding the lost.

2. Lord, make us prophets to cry out the way, Telling the nations of mercy’s new day. Let us break barriers of hatred and scorn, Speaking of hope to all people forlorn.

3. Lord, make us healers of body and mind; Give us your pow’r to bring sight to the blind; Love to the loveless and gladness for pain, Filling all hearts with the joy of your name.

#269 RECESSIONAL: Make Us True Servants

1. Soul of my Savior, sanctify my breast, Body of Christ, be thou my saving guest, Blood of my Savior, bathe me in Thy tide, Wash me with waters streaming from Thy side.

2. Strength and protection may thy Passion be, O blessèd Jesus, hear and answer me; Deep in thy wounds, Lord, hide and shelter me, So shall I never, never part from thee.

COMMUNION: Soul of My Savior

1. Make me a channel of your peace. Where there is hatred, let me bring your love. Where there is injury, your pardon, Lord. And where there’s doubt, true faith in you.

2. Make me a channel of your peace. Where there’s despair in life, let me bring hope. Where there is darkness, only light. And where there’s sadness, ever joy.

O Master, grant that I may never seek, So much to be consoled, as to console, To be understood, as to understand, To be love, as to love with all my soul.

3. Make me a channel of your peace. It is in pardoning that we are pardoned, In giving of ourselves that we receive, and in dying that we’re born to eternal life.

When Mary was asked to be the mother of the Savior, she was completely free to accept or reject the offer. Her response, “Let it be done to me,” was a great act of faith. Because she did not understand what was happening, she must have known that there would be difficulties ahead. The Feast of the Presentation of Mary is based on an ancient tradition that says Mary, at 3-years-old, was taken to the temple in Jerusalem and dedicated to God. What we celebrate on this day is the fact that God chose to dwell in Mary in a very special way. In response, Mary placed her whole self at the service of God. Every moment since your Baptism, God invites you to be open to his grace and dedicate yourself to him, as Mary did.

Preparing For Our Judgment In the Gospel today, Jesus provides us with a parable which should help us prepare for our judgment when we die. No one likes to think about death, especially our own, but we must face the fact that we will die one day and have to give an account of our lives to God. Each of us has been given certain gifts and skills to use to help build up God’s Kingdom. He has entrusted us to use our skills to the best of our ability, not simply sitting on our hands and letting others do all the work. When we fail to use our talents for God’s purpose we are like the lazy servant who buried the talent out of fear. What that lazy servant lacked was love - love for his master. We don’t want to be like that when it comes to God. We should love God because He is the source of all good and He generously provides for our needs. We show our love to God by submitting our will to Him and using our skills and talents to assist in building His Church. Some people live a life of fear; afraid they won’t do the right thing with their skills, so they don’t use them, like the servant in the parable of today’s Gospel. Fear is another thing we should avoid. Fear is the Devil’s tool and can hamper us in our efforts to live in union with God. We fear many things, death being one of them, yet if we are living a holy life, partaking in the sacraments of the Church and an active prayer life we have nothing to fear. We fear the unknown, so naturally we fear death, yet Jesus assures us He will be with

us and has prepared a room for us in His Father’s House. That thought should give us great peace and a longing to dwell with Jesus forever. Examine how you are using God’s gifts; the skills and talents He has given to you. Prepare for your day of judgment by regular Confession and Eucharist. This helps us to be ready to meet the Lord! We all long to hear Jesus say to us; “Come, share your master’s joy” as He welcomes us into Heaven. So prepare now for the time of judgment. Deacon Ray

During this season of Thanksgiving, let us become more aware, throughout each day, of the things for which we can be thankful, even in the midst of difficult circumstances. The following

Scripture passages help us to know how to express our gratitude to God. Take a minute to stop and read these Bible verses aloud as you think about all the ways God has blessed you this past year!

"And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him" (Colossians 3:17).

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus" (Philippians 4:6-7).

"Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good, for His steadfast love endures forever!" (Psalm 107:1).

In brief, the changes include: "a.- the Plenary Indulgence for those who visit a cemetery and pray for the deceased, even if only mentally [i.e., mental prayer], normally established only on the individual days from 1 to November 8, may be transferred to other days of the same month, until its end. These days, freely chosen by the individual believers, may also be separate from each other;

"b.- the Plenary Indulgence of November 2, established on the occasion of the Commemoration of all the deceased faithful for those who piously visit a church or oratory and recite the 'Our Father' and the 'Creed' there, may be transferred not only to the Sunday before or after or on the day of the Solemnity of All Saints, but also to another day of the month of November, freely chosen by the individual faithful."
