God Is Stronger Than Any Temptation That We Have!
Temptations are a fact of life. Our world is full of them. Everyone is tempted. It can be the urge to have a second piece of pie, the thought of cheating to pass a test, or the craving for an-other hit of narcotics. Some temptations are avoided. Some are not & lives are ruined & destroyed. In times of crisis or distress, we are more vulnerable to temptation. Think of Jesus in the desert. After 40 days, He must have been very tired, hungry, dirty, and hot. These conditions would have made any human very susceptible to the temptations of-fered by the devil. Jesus was no exception. His divinity did not make His human nature im-mune from temptations. How was Jesus able to
resist the temptations that must have sounded so good at that time? What was His secret weapon? Trust in the Lord. He knew His iden-tity was rooted in union with the Father. How fortunate that we have the same weapon in our arsenals! God will help us overcome any temptation that is hounding us. But we must trust fully in His power and desire to help us. Resisting temptation will bring us a bigger treasure than any earthly pleasure: inner peace and the happiness of being united with God and our loved ones. Temptations may look wonder-ful in a vulnerable moment, but the promised rewards are empty. By trusting in God, tempta-tions are exposed as lies.
The fast pace of your life may seem to leave little time and energy for the traditional Lenten practices. But, you can weave moments of spiritual awareness and service into even the busiest of schedules. The trick is to see Lenten practice as part of, rather than in addition to, each activity of your ordinary hectic day.
There are many ways to fast. Why not fast from criticism, gos-sip, judging others, or passing on rumors? Why not abstain from unwar-ranted fear and anxiety? You can also tell that inner voice inside your head that criticizes you to abstain from eroding your ability to be the confident, blessed person God calls you to be.
Praying Daily - If you make a habit of saying a little prayer whenever someone irritates you, cuts you off in traffic, or makes life difficult; when someone does you a favor, you experience
great & friendly service, or when some-thing joyful happens to you—you will
soon find yourself praying your way through the day. Try this!
Give of Yourself - Daily life also offers countless opportunities to
give of yourself to others (alms), and most don’t involve dipping into your wal-
let. Give encouragement & praise to the doubt-ing & insecure, show kindness to someone who could use a friend, & offer a word of gratitude to others. A hug & smile go a long ways!

Thanks for your prayers for our seminarians...Last year we be-gan our crusade for the young men and women of our diocese who are discerning priesthood & religious life. We have offered up many holy hours & prayers for our seminarians & religious, & they will send a card thanking us for our time but more importantly our pray-ers. You can read their cards outside of the adoration chapel. Please continue to pray for vocations during your holy hours. The Church needs young people to serve God’s people in religious life. The pic-tures of the men and women are posted right outside of the adoration chapel. Bishop Folda spoke & said that over half of his active priests are now over the age of 60. If we don’t have vocations in the future, it will be scary as many rural parishes will suffer & become a mis-sion of a bigger parish. We can do our part by responding to God’s call to pray for vocations, & praying that the young men and women who are called will silence themselves to hear the call, and respond.
