Jesus speaks to the heart, “Do you love me?”
This Sunday I can think of two very special people who are giving a responding “YES” to Jesus.
Saint Philip the Apostle Parish rejoices this Sunday with one of our sons, José López, who will be ordained a transi onal deacon at 3:00 pm at the cathedral. As a transi onal deacon, José will con nue his last year of forma on for the priesthood while also serving as a deacon: proclaiming the Gospel, preaching, celebra ng Bap sms and witnessing Marriages. José’s love for the Lord and the Church are a great witness to all of us, and we pray that he will con nue to be an inspira on for others to consider the Lord’s call to ordained ministry or religious life.
I’ve had to opportunity to work closely with Sister María Marciano, both in the Dominican Republic and in Hai . Sister will be receiving an honorary degree from Marque e University this Sunday, while also giving the main commencement speech to this year’s gradua ng class. Sister María’s work has focused on community development among the poor in her na ve country of Brazil, and now in the Carribean, empower-ing the poor to provide for themselves via educa on, health and agricultural produc on. Those of us who have seen the “before and a er” in the communi es where Sister has been are inspired and filled with hope. I’ll be returning to the D.R. on a mission trip this coming year, Jan. 23 to Feb. 6. Let me know if you’d be interested in joining me.
Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful, and kindle in them the fire of your love. Let’s all give Jesus a resounding “Yes”… “Let all the earth cry out to God with joy.”

The old line says “if you want to make God laugh, tell him your plans.” Many of us are diligent in our planning, making sure things are progressing smoothly, then disaster strikes, we don’t get the result that was intended. An unforeseen problem arises. Many times we may respond negatively. Why me? I did everything right! Here’s the thing ─ God has a different and better plan in store for you.
Registrations for Religious Ed. and Confirmation are now open. Students entering 1st grade in the fall can be sing up for prepara on for 1st Communion which is a two year process, and students entering 9th grade in the fall can sign up for Confirma on which is a three year process. Jesús habla al corazón, “¿Me amas?”
Este domingo pienso en dos perso-nas muy especiales respondiendo con un gran “Sí” a Jesús.
Nuestra parroquia de San Felipe el Apóstol regocija este domingo con uno de nuestros hijos, José López, quien será ordenado diácono transitorio a las 3:00 pm en la catedral. Como diácono, José sigue su formación para el sacerdocio mientras sirve como diácono: procla-mando el Evangelio, predicando, bau zando y celebran-do bodas. El amor de José por el Señor y por la Iglesia es un gran tes monio para todos nosotros, y rezamos para que siga siendo una inspiración para que otros conside-ren si el Señor también les está llamando al sacerdocio o la vida religiosa.
He tenido la oportunidad de trabajar de cerca con la Hermana María Marciano, tanto en la República Domi-nicana como en Hai . Hermana María va a recibir un
tulo honorario de la Universidad de Marque e; a su vez dará el discurso principal a los graduados de este año. El trabajo de Hermana María se ha enfocado en el desarrollo integral de las comunidades y regiones más pobres, tanto en su país natal de Brasil, como ahora en el Caribe, promoviendo la educación, la salud, y la producción agrícola. Quienes hemos visto el “antes y después” en estas comunidades donde la Hermana ha trabajado hemos sido inspirados. Hay esperanza. En enero – febrero (23-6) regresaré a la R.D. con un grupo de ‘misioneros’. Si usted está interesado/a en acompa-ñarme, déjeme saber.
Ven, Espíritu Santo, llena los corazones de Tus fieles, y enciende en ellos el fuego de Tu amor. Que todos demos un gran “Sí” a Jesús. “Aclamen al Señor, erra entera.”

Requisitos: • Traer el cer ficado de nacimiento del niño/a • Los nombres de los padrinos escritos correctamente • Padres ─ registrarse como miembros de esta parroquia si aún no lo han hecho.
Este programa ayuda a conocer más acerca de tu fe, las sagradas escrituras, la iglesia, la moral y otros temas impor-tantes y te prepara para algún ministerio en la Iglesia. Discípulos de Cristo es un programa de tres años de forma-ción para ministerio que incluye clases en el Centro Pasto-ral de la Diócesis de Green Bay. El costo es de $125 (individual) y $175 (pareja casada). Hay ayuda con el costo disponible. Habla con tu párroco, líder pastoral, coordina-dor/a del ministerio Hispano antes de entregar la inscrip-ción. La inscripción debe ser llenada y entregada antes del 15 de julio del 2017. Una frase antigua dice “si quieres hacer reír a Dios, cuéntale tus planes”. Muchos de nosotros somos diligentes en nuestra planificación, asegurándonos de que las cosas están progresando sin problemas, y luego si ocurre un desastre, no obtenemos el resultado deseado. Surge un problema imprevisto. Muchas veces podemos responder negativamente. ¿Por qué yo? ¡Hice todo bien! Aquí está la cosa ─ Dios tiene un plan diferente y mejor para ti.
Es tiempo de registrarse para la Educación Religiosa y Confirmación. Niños/as que deseen recibir su 1ra Comunión pueden registrarse a par r de que estén en el 1er grado de la escuela. Este es un proceso de 2 años, y los estudiantes que van a comenzar el 9o grado en el otoño, pueden registrarse para su preparación para la Confirmación la cual es un proceso de 3 años. Los formularios (hojas amarillas) están disponibles en la entrada de la iglesia.
