Find the Missal (Ordinary of the Mass) at 150 in Oramos Cantando/We Pray in Song First Reading IS 5:1-7 Let me now sing of my friend, my friend's song concerning his vineyard. My friend had a vineyard on a fertile hillside; he spaded it, cleared it of
stones, and planted the choicest vines; within it he built a watchtower, and hewed out a wine press. Then he looked for the crop of grapes, but
what it yielded was wild grapes. Now, inhabitants of Jerusalem and people of Judah, judge between me and my vineyard: What more was there
to do for my vineyard that I had not done? Why, when I looked for the crop of grapes, did it bring forth wild grapes? Now, I will let you know
what I mean to do with my vineyard: take away its hedge, give it to grazing, break through its wall, let it be trampled! Yes, I will make it a ruin:
it shall not be pruned or hoed, but overgrown with thorns and briers; I will command the clouds not to send rain upon it. The vineyard of the
LORD of hosts is the house of Israel, and the people of Judah are his cherished plant; he looked for judgment, but see, bloodshed! for justice, but
hark, the outcry!
Responsorial Psalm PS 80 R. The vineyard of the Lord is the house of Israel.
Second Reading PHIL 4:6-9 Brothers and sisters: Have no anxiety at all, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God.
Then the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever
is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is gracious, if there is any excellence and if there
is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. Keep on doing what you have learned and received and heard and seen in me. Then the
God of peace will be with you.
Gospel MT 21:33-43 Jesus said to the chief priests and the elders of the people: "Hear another parable. There was a landowner who planted a vineyard, put a hedge
around it, dug a wine press in it, and built a tower. Then he leased it to tenants and went on a journey. When vintage time drew near, he sent his
servants to the tenants to obtain his produce. But the tenants seized the servants and one they beat, another they killed, and a third they stoned.
Again he sent other servants, more numerous than the first ones, but they treated them in the same way. Finally, he sent his son to them,
thinking, 'They will respect my son.' But when the tenants saw the son, they said to one another, 'This is the heir. Come, let us kill him and
acquire his inheritance.' They seized him, threw him out of the vineyard, and killed him. What will the owner of the vineyard do to those tenants
when he comes?" They answered him, "He will put those wretched men to a wretched death and lease his vineyard to other tenants who will
give him the produce at the proper times." Jesus said to them, "Did you never read in the Scriptures: The stone that the builders rejected has
become the cornerstone; by the Lord has this been done, and it is wonderful in our eyes? Therefore, I say to you, the kingdom of God will be
taken away from you and given to a people that will produce its fruit."
Ahora voy a darles a

Deacons and seminarians. Following is a short prayer along with a seminarian’s name. Each week you will find a
different name in the bulletin. Let’s pray for them daily.
Loving and Generous God, it is You who call us by name and ask us to follow You.
Help us to grow in the Love and Service of our Church as we experience it today.
Give us the energy and courage of Your Spirit to shape its future
Grant us faith-filled leaders who will embrace Christ's Mission of love and justice.
Bless the Church of St. Pius V by raising up dedicated and generous leaders from our families and friends who will serve
Your people as Sisters, Priests, Brothers, Deacons and Lay Ministers.
Inspire us to know You better and open our hearts to hear Your call, as seminarian Christopher Meyer has done.
We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen!

giosas, sacerdotes, religiosos, diáconos y ministros laicos.

Living Our Faith…. Parish Social Ministry It is becoming harder and harder to understand some of the violence and destruction that we see around us. We all
experience the natural disasters and wonder, “why?” and experienced the violence as in Las Vegas and wonder if that is
really what someone’s god wants them to do? We hear of violence even in today’s Gospel. But then I remember that in all of
this, the Cornerstone remains steady. And we must remain faithful to that Cornerstone, Jesus, the Son. I need to remain
faithful to our Catholic Social Teaching that calls for a kind of “violence”: our rooting out anything that keeps us from
growing in relationship to God and hearing his word, our dying to self so that we can do God’s will, which brings forth
LIFE! And life to the fullest!
From the Parish Food Pantry: We will continue to recover by giving out food to all people trying to recover from
Hurricane Harvey. We will only be open for distributing food on Thursdays after 10am until we run out of food for that day.
We ask you to be generous in sharing by donating canned or boxed food. Thanks for all your support!

Viviendo nuestra fe……

A Big Thank You to those who came this weekend to work cleaning up the grounds: Maria Trevino, Haydee Vargas, Patricia Lopez, Angel Cortazar. These 3 ladies worked so hard to rake, trim, cut back and bag it all!! Angel pitched in too and helped bag the trimmings! We really thank you for your hard work. I’m sure you will notice the difference out there. We were hoping to have enough people to trim the trees and hedges in front of the school, but that will happen another day.
While the grounds were being cleaned, a group of men from the Parish were tearing out the old bookstore making ready for the Chapel and they also did a lot of work in there. They included: Manuel Aguilar, Salvador Martinez, Ricardo Gallegos, Guadalupe Cortazar, Rodolfo DeLeon. Thank you all so much for giving of your time and talents.

News from St. Pius V Catholic School
October is the month of the rosary. As we journey through the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey, let us reflect on
the rosary:
The rosary is a powerful spiritual tool for meditation. While meditation grows in popularity as a means
to better mental, physical, and spiritual health, many people, including many Catholics, overlook the
rosary as a meditative tool. It is sometimes seen as too simple and therefore as superficial. The rosary is
simple, but the gentle repetition of its prayers makes it an excellent means to moving into deeper
meditation. It gives us an opportunity to open ourselves to God’s word, to refine our interior gaze by
turning our minds to the life of Christ. ~ Elizabeth M. Kelly, Loyola Press
