STEWARDSHIP THOUGHT

The Magi brought the child Jesus gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh. What gifts do I bring

before Jesus? My time in prayer? My participation in my parish community? My generosity?

“Then they opened their coffers and presented him with gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh.”

THE MEN’S CLUB will meet Tuesday after the 9AM Com-munion Service at the Landings Restaurant at the Casino in Murphy. All men of the Parish are warmly welcomed to join us. ………………………………………………………………….. THE PRAYER SHAWL COMMITTEE will meet Monday, January 6th at 12:30PM in the Commons. As we begin our 10th year in this Ministry, we are inviting all prayerful hands to join us. ………………………………………………………………….. ………………………………………………………………….

More General Announcements …………………………………………………………………. IMPORTANT NOTICE REGARDING SECOND COL-LECTIONS AND FREE WILL OFFERINGS. The first full weekend of each month is designated for a Diocesan Collection for that month if one is scheduled by the Diocese. The second and fourth weekends of each month are designated as free will offerings for Food Pantry and St. Vincent de Paul. The third weekend of each month is set aside for the DSA/Priest Retire-ment Assessments. As a point of clarification for this schedul-ing, the first full weekend means when both Saturday and Sun-day are dates within the month and not a split weekend where Saturday is the last day of one month and Sunday is the first day of the next month. This procedure has been put in place by the Parish Business Office in order to avoid Diocesan collec-tions conflicting with free will offerings. ………………………………………………………………….. A NEW YEAR PRAYER FOR HEALING. Dear Lord: help us to accept those things we cannot change, the courage to change the things we can, and the wisdom to know the differ-ence. Help us to understand and respect our differences. Help us heal bitterness, gossip and divisions within our parish and universal church. Help us replace it with respect, selflessness, understanding and a recommitment to our faith. Where there is hatred, despair and discontent, make me a channel of your peace and hope. Remember always that our strength to contin-ue your work in the Mission Field particularly in times of much despair lies with you and your gift of the Eucharist, our hope and our consolation. Amen.
