Strathcona County Energy … energetic … can-do spirit ... high quality of living, built on strongly held values. According to brand research, completed in late 2011, these thoughts capture what is distinctive about Strathcona County. Taken together, they point to a successful community, where people want to work and live.

Certainly, the community is successful if measured by growth alone. Based on the 2011 Federal census, Strathcona County is now the third-largest and fastest-growing municipality in Alberta.

A thriving industrial base – 75 per cent of all refining in Western Canada happens in our backyard – contributes to Strathcona County being recognized as a growing economic force in Alberta. This economic foundation is good news for all our citizens, supporting innovative programming, and a high quality of services and infrastructure.

In addition to being recognized as an energy engine in the province, Strathcona County is also known for the energy of its people, who help make this community great. Underpinning it all is a deeply-rooted value system, built on determination, honesty, integrity, freedom, personal responsibility, kindness, self-esteem, and compassion.

True success; however, is about the ability of citizens to realize their hopes and dreams.

As a community, Strathcona County is fortunate to have a high percentage of well-educated social and economic movers and shakers, and independent risk-takers, who demonstrate leadership and innovation.
