His political affiliation was with the Republican Party. He attended night school to obtain his GED as a high school drop out. Hoover graduated 1895 from Leland Stanford Junior University in California with a degree in geology. He worked as a mining engineer. His tenure of watch as our Commander in Chief was to end the Depression. February 20, 1933 Congress proposed the 21st Amendment Repeal of Prohibition. The demand for bootleg liquor began to decline. The Black Market had lost its major source of revenue. Gang leaders were unable to recruit new members. Gang warfare took a downward slope. Prison overcrowding was no longer exceeding crisis proportions. Public confidence in the government began to grow. The stock market was revived. America grew prosperous. The crime rate started to dissipate.
