also offers various financing alternatives, asset management services, and
other financial services for business and consumers in the United States,
through Dell Financial Services L.P. (a joint venture between Dell and CIT
Group, Inc.). The company sells its products mostly to large corporations,
government, healthcare, and education markets, as well as small-to-
medium businesses and individual customers. Dell expands to the United
States, Japan, Middle East, Africa, and Europe.
In the past 52 weeks, Apple outperformed Dell by 125%. This is probably due to the success of the digital media player, iPod, causing investors to demand
more of this stock. Usually when investors purchase a lot of stock they expect a huge growth in the company and so this was probably the case with
Apple. Dell’s underperformance was probably due to the investor’s lack of faith in Dell’s future as a company.
