10 Tips To Keep Seniors Safe In The Summer Heat
*Drink plenty of liquids - eight or more 8-ounce glasses per dayand or fruit juices - every day to stay hydrated.*Avoid caffeinated and alcoholic beverages.
*Dress appropriately. Wear loose-fitting clothes in natural fabrics like cotton and dress in light colors that will reflect the sun and heat instead of darker colors
that will attract them. *When outdoors, protect your skin from damage by wearing hats, sunglasses
and a sunscreen of 30 SPF or more. *Stay indoors during extreme heat.
*If you do not have air conditioning in your apartment, go somewhere that does. A movie theater, the mall, a friend or relative's home or a community
senior center are all good options.*If you need to get out of the house and don't drive a car, call a taxi, a friend
or a transportation service. DO NOT wait outside for the bus in extreme heat.*If you are absolutely unable to leave the house and do not have air conditioning, take a cool bath or shower to lower you body temperature on extremely hot days.
*Temperatures inside the home should not exceed 85 degrees Fahrenheit for prolonged periods of time.
*Know the signs of heat stroke (e.g flushed face, high body temperature, headache, nausea, rapid pulse, dizziness and confusion) and take immediate action
If you feel them coming on.

Laughter Is The Best MedicineHumor is infectious. The sound of roaring laughter is far more
contagious than any cough, sniffle, or sneeze. When laughter is shared, it binds people together and increaseshappiness and intimacy. Laughter also triggers healthy physical
changes in the body. Humor and laughter strengthen your immunesystem, boost your energy, diminish pain, and protect you from thedamaging effects of stress. Best of all this priceless medicine is fun,
free, and easy to use.

The heat has arrived. Please remember to drink plenty of water and stay out of thesun as much as possible. Monsoon season is here with lots of rain and wind,
so please be careful when going outdoors. It's that time of year in the Old Pueblo when the temperatures soar!
Please remember to use sun screen and a wide-brimmed hat when going outdoors,It is also important to drink plenty of fluids to stay hydrated. At least 6-8,
10 ounce glasses of water per day is recommended.
Please be considerate of others: clean lint, animal hair, and items out of the washers and dryers when you are done. Please be considerate of others and remove your laundry when the cycle is completed. Please let me know if you have any questions on your annual recertification’s, apartment inspections, rent, lease, etc. Luz is your contact for any questions regarding the Newsletter, Calendar, presentations, events, or volunteers. Luz coordinates services for our residents. Please contact her directly. Please do not ask Jose to complete work orders. All work orders must be logged through the office. Please call or come in person to the office regarding any work orders (we cannot take them as we are walking through the building). Please report all maintenance items immediately, do not wait until inspection. Thank you, Theresa
