Course of Studies - Contents and ObjectivesThe chemistry program in Würzburg offers a research-oriented curriculum. Graduates of the Bachelor-program in chemistry are acquainted with the fundamentals of chemistry, possess the relevantexperimental skills and are familiar with the general methods of scientific research. In lectures andtutorials the basic knowledge of the various areas of chemistry is imparted as well as the foundations ofmathematics and physics. A further hallmark is the comparably large number of student lab courses. Inthese labs the laboratory skills and techniques used in experimental scientific work are taught. Duringtheir Bachelor thesis the students finally work for a limited time on a specific chemical problem. Theydemonstrate their scientific abilities in work which is performed under guidance, but to a large extentindependently. The students obtain the necessary knowledge to attend a research-oriented Mastersprogram. In addition they possess the basic qualifications necessary for further professional trainingin industry and business. In supplementary modules they acquire science-related soft skills in specificareas of chemistry and general soft skills that match their personal interests and serve as an additionalqualification for various professional areas.
