SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING – TUESDAY 19 JULY 2016 A special council meeting of the City of Subiaco will be held at 5.30pm on Tuesday 19 July to consider the 2016/17 budget. The meeting will replace the Corporate, Community and Technical Services Committee meeting and will be held in the Council Chambers at the Administration Centre, 241 Rokeby Road, Subiaco. Here are a few handy tips for keeping our streets clean, pest-free and generally waste-free: close lids to deter vermin and reduce odours do not compact items into bin – contents are to be free-fowing ensure bins are easily accessible and not obstructed ensure bins weigh no more than 70 kilograms • wrap moist/perishable foods in newspaper return bins to your property as soon as possible after collection • avoid odours by cleaning the bins regularly. A list of what to put in your waste and recycle bins can be found at www.subiaco.wa.gov.au FOCUS I CAPTURE I EXPRESS This is your last chance to enter the 2016 Photographic Awards. The awards are open to residents of the Perth metropolitan area, aged six years and over. Photographs can be submitted online until 4pm on Monday 18 July , and entered into one of three categories – Subiaco, Open or Mobile. Cash and prizes to the value of more than $2500 will be awarded to the best photographs, as selected by the panel of judges. If you are aged fourteen or older and love to read, you can join in the fun. Book Club meets every six weeks on Monday afternoons from 4pm to 5pm, commencing on Monday 15 August, to discuss the latest books, as chosen by club members. The City of Subiaco is implementing a range of major projects and initiatives to support local businesses and increase visitation, including: • a $4 million-dollar upgrade of Rokeby Road’s streetscape • the removal of outdoor dining fees • more fexibility in planning policies • a twelve-month trial of three-hour free parking in Rowland Street, starting this December • other parking initiatives including wayfnding signage, pay-by-plate machines, and the Easy Park mobile app the draft Subiaco Activity Centre Plan and North Subiaco Structure Plan, which will provide a framework for the ongoing development and revitalisation of these areas working closely with the Subiaco Town Centre Network, a core group of local business people who are addressing issues that affect the viability and vitality of the town centre.
