Chinook School DivisionMath Goal

In Year one (2011-2012) it was a transition year and schools choose tofocus their goal on building capacity among their staff as we transitioned fromLiteracy to Math. Now, after 3 years, we have recently focused on the Guided Math Model by Laney Sammons. We have built our knowledge and capacity in creating Math Workstations, using Small Group Instruction and Whole Group Instruction in teaching and learning of Mathematics.

Chinook School Division MATH MOMENTUM - “Possibilities are Endless . . . ”

Goal: It is our intention that all students in Chinook will be meeting or exceeding Chinook expectations in math on Chinook division wide math assessments over time. In the immediate future we will measure the cohorts in Gr. 3, 6, and 9 with Chinook Assessments; our target is for 25% more students meeting or exceeding Chinook expectations in math by June 2015. After the first 2 years, we are already at an increase of 18% growth. After this June 2014, we should

be at or above the 25% target goal.
