    Strangeface are a prestigious mask and puppet theatre company who Transported have

    commissioned to create Fen Boy, a story based on Lincolnshires principle themes of

    agriculture, horticulture and food processing. Using specially commissioned music, the piece

    will be suitable for all the family, will be performed using a haulage trailer as a stage and will

    travel from community to community in South Holland and Boston Borough over a period of

    five days.

    Come along and experience dinghy sailing on the river Witham in Boston. No previous

    experience required. Training will be provided by RYA instructors. Buoyancy aids and boats

    provided. Please dress appropriate to the weather conditions - wetsuits are advisable as you

    As many of you will know, Minting is a Thankful Village a village where all the men who

    fought in WW1 returned. Last year two men from Wales (Medwyn Parry & Dougie Bancroft)

    visited all 51 Thankful Villages in England & Wales by motorcycle calling in at Minting on 1st

    August.

    At each village they presented a slate plaque and a certificate with the request that all 51

    plaques be unveiled at 11am on Sunday 3rd

    August 2014 - the nearest Sunday to 4th August

    which is the accepted start of WW1 as far as the UK was concerned.

    The plaque and certificate are to be placed in Minting Village Hall and will be unveiled by

    Mrs Mavis Miller and Mr Frank Speake who have family members on both the WW1 & WW2

    Rolls of Honour which are in the parish church - St Andrew's.

    12pm onwards- Minting, Gautby & District Heritage Society are launching their WW1

    Commemoration Projectworking title from Becks to Battlefields.

    The Society aims to gather family WW1 stories and put them into a book that

    commemorates all aspects of WWI as experienced by the ancestors of those who live in the

    This wonderful Lincoln mill is located on Mill Road, so called due to the nine windmills that

    formerly faced west over the steep slopes of the Lincoln Edge.

    Ellis Mill is now the sole survivor of these mills and an excellent example of a small tower

    mill. The Mill dates from 1798 but there has been a mill on this site from at least the middle

    of the 17th century.

    hirebikesand get cycling!

    More than 800 people have signed up to Lincoln's bike hire schemehirebikewhich is a

    short-term rental scheme for residents and visitors in Lincoln.

    40 bikes available to hire from locations across the city including:

    Bikes can be hired throughout the day. They are free for the first 30 minutes of every rental

    and then 1 per hour. The price is capped at 4.00 for the whole day.

    You can hire a bike in three easy steps:

    free, but you will be asked to purchase 5.00 worth of credit before you can hire your

    first bike. Funds will be deducted as and when you use the bikes.

    3. HireGet on your bike and off you go! You can return your bike to any of the stations

    not just the one you hired from.

    We are currently expanding the hirebike scheme with an additional six stations being

    installed across Lincoln throughout July. Locations include Brant Road, Newark Road (near

    Tiber Road), Burton Waters, Tritton Road and Skellingthorpe Community Centre.

    Hirebike is delivered through Access LN6 at Lincolnshire County Council. Access LN6 is a

    multi-million pound programme which increases opportunities for sustainable travel. It is

    improving opportunities to walk, cycle, use public transport and car share, as well as making

    improvements to infrastructure.

    After last year's very popular event, another Archaeology Day for visitors of all ages. This is

    part of the CBA (Council of British Archaeology) Festival of Archaeology and this year it will

    The children's activities this year include a chance to do a dig (limited places so first come

    first served), object handling (again limited places) and a chance to act in or watch a short

    play about Ancient Egypt followed by a film about Howard Carter the famous Egyptian

    archaeologist aimed at younger viewers. We also hope to have a display of rare books on

    Egyptian archaeology from Lincoln Central Library. There will a 1 craft making a replica of a

    Norman manor house (all other activities are free).

    The Heritage Trust of Lincolnshire will be showcasing their services and activities. Find out

    about their latest projects and courses and get your finds identified by their resident

    experts. Short lectures on a variety of subjects will be offered throughout the day.

    The day will coincide with the opening of our Reconstructing the Past display which consists

    of models of lost pieces of Lincolnshire's heritage.

    Quids-In! Youth Clubs & Family Days

    Quids-In! Youth Clubs at the Showroom offer members free-play & activities for just 1.

    We run Youth Clubs for different age groups on different nights, but the Quids-In! price is

    the same - 1!

    Entry entitles members to freeplay on all arcade games, pool tables, air hockey, table tennis,

    bowling and the sports cage, as well as arts & crafts, facilitated team games and other

    activities. We even offer a fully supervised 'Junior Youth Night' on Mondays for our younger

    members! Saturdays are Quids-In for all ages; families welcome!

    Bikes can be hired throughout the day. They are free for the first 30 minutes of every rental

    and then 1 per hour. The price is capped at 4.00 for the whole day.

    You can hire a bike in three easy steps:

    free, but you will be asked to purchase 5.00 worth of credit before you can hire your

    first bike. Funds will be deducted as and when you use the bikes.
