SUNDAY BAZAAR VISIT All the stalls of branded companies were right at the front of the Sunday bazaar. Those companies which could not find a place at the front found a stall in the second row. The biggest stalls were of Colgate-Palmolive and Unilever. One trend that was common in the stalls was that most of them were offering beverages. Unilever was offering Energile, Colgate-Palmolive was selling tang and Tapal was selling its ice tea. All of them were selling a small glass for Rs. 10 Surprisingly nestle had a very small stall and there was only one sales person on that stall. It seemed as if they were just there to advertise there products and not sell them. They had stacked there merchandise on the shelves and did not seem to have any stored stock.

SUNDAY BAZAAR VISIT

All the stalls of branded companies were right at the front of the Sunday bazaar. Those

companies which could not find a place at the front found a stall in the second row. The

biggest stalls were of Colgate-Palmolive and Unilever.

One trend that was common in the stalls was that most of them were offering beverages.

Unilever was offering Energile, Colgate-Palmolive was selling tang and Tapal was selling its ice

tea. All of them were selling a small glass for Rs. 10

Surprisingly nestle had a very small stall and there was only one sales person on that stall. It

seemed as if they were just there to advertise there products and not sell them. They had

stacked there merchandise on the shelves and did not seem to have any stored stock.

Some of the stalls were very decorated such as Tapals and Olpers. While there were some

stalls which had not taken Sunday bazaar as a serious opportunity. Additionally there was also

some mismanagement at some of the stalls. Merchandise had fallen on the floor at the Peak

Freans stall and the staff was least bothered to pick them up and place them on their shelves.

The stall I chose was the stall of Colgate-Palmolive. They had an offer going on: One Colgate

classic clean tooth brush free with two sparkle tooth paste. They had one more promotionaloffer they were giving 30gm Colgate max fresh with 1kg Brite washing powder which resulted

in the saving of Rs.23.

The merchandise being sold at the stall had a 5-10% discount on prices as compared to the

market. The staff was very helpful even though they had attended to many students from our

class they still answered all my questions and allowed me to take pictures.

Looking at the stall, it was located right at the front of the bazaar right next to Unilevers stall.

The stall was very neat. It was decorated very well and the organization of merchandise was

also very good. Starting from the left, we see tooth pastes, then soaps, and then we had

washing powders. In the corner they had placed the stall of Tetley tea and then moving

towards the end of the stall they had placed Tang.

The whole roof was covered with buntings promoting Sparkle toothpaste Lemon max dish

washing soap and Brite washing powder.

They had also arranged a seating area for people to sit. As Sunday bazaar is a very big place

people were using these chairs. This served as an attraction for people to visit the stall.

The best stall in the whole market was that of Unilever. It was very creatively designed.

Especially the area where Sunsilk was displayed was very stylish. A separate corner was

dedicated to surf excel and the branding was of very high quality.

MAKRO VISIT

I went to Makro in saddar for my market visit. As it was a strike on the day there were very

few people there and there staff was also short.

Merchandising:

Heavy merchandising of mon-o-salva, Mughal rice, Royal grain, Dalda, Sufi, Maggi, Super fresh

frozen food heavy merchandising. Posters and shelves of knorr and rafhan can be seen on

pillars. Unilever food solutions has sponsored their food items area. Masala were heavily

advertised on the meat market

Interception Activities:

Hanifia and Vasiline Interception activities are there but no attendants were there of any

company.

Makros Products: 

Makro has started producing many kinds of product from pulses to beverages to frozen foods

and electronic appliances.

In the rice category Makro has 2 types of products:

Value pak; which is a low quality brand and wholeum super kernel, which is an expensive

brand.

They place their own brands at eye level at the most prominent places. They place other

brands. The price difference is from 2 to 3 Rs. Per kg

They have also launched their frozen food prices by the name of Wholesum frozen food

IMPULSE PRODUCTS:

The most prominent product in the impulse category is the Energizer battery cell. It is placed

beside every counter.

On the second number is Cadbury Perk. It is placed at every third counter.

Lastly some stalls of Gilletes new disposal razor the Gillette blue three are also seen near the

counters.
