• In our team, we have five people that are between ages 19 and 22.

We are all students and we all have part time jobs.

We all have cars, some are old and waste a lot of gas, whereas others are newer and more fuel efficient. We all use our cars daily.

Some of the electronic devices our team members use often are; computers, lights, washing machines, dishwashers, etc.

We are all from different culture.

Energy• Energy usage depends on the household size, individual needs, and economic needs.

Water•We use water when we: shower, drink, water plants, wash clothes and more.

Food•Our group is very culturally diverse so our eating habits are very different person to person.

Different size household use different energy. For example, Carlos and Yunsi have about 10 people in their houses, so they use much energy than Emma who has only two people in her house. For the food, in our team we all from different culture. Such as Yunsi from China, so her family don’t eat too much fast food and meat, Carlos and Gaby from Mexico, their food are base on chicken and meat. Emma’s food base on fast food, salads, and steaks.

Based on our data, our team members’ footprints are all smaller than the average of American’s Carbon footprint which is 19.6 tons of CO2 a year. However, all of ours are higher than the global average of 4 tons of CO2 a year.

Above is the annual co2 emissions for The World, The United States, China, and Mexico. China and the US both have very high co2 emissions, but China has a much larger population, so per person, the US uses a lot more. Mexico does not use nearly as much.

China -Large separation between classes.

-Lots of industrial

-LOTS of people

-Fairly low consumption per person.

-Cars are not very popular

=High carbon footprint

United States-Fairly large population size -High consumption per person

-Lots of technology

-Cars are primary transportation

=High Carbon footprint

Like flossing or losing weight, saving energy is easier to promise than to actually do – even if you are the Department of Energy. -- Washington

There are many ways to save energy.Saving energy by using less:Lower water heater temperatureWash clothes and dishes by hands not machinePutdown commuters and monitors when they are not being used.

Saving energy by increased efficiency:Buy the products with energy star labelUse compact fluorescent bulbs to light your homeUse power stripsBuy programmable thermostats

Energy we expect to save by conserving:Energy star energy can save 50 % of the energyUsing conversing can save a lot of money from electricity bill

After looking into our own carbon footprints, we realized that each one of us could do many different things to reduce them. Each person should be aware of the amount of energy and water they consume and try to reduce it. It won’t make a huge impact if only one or two of us do it, but if everyone reduces, it will! It is important to raise awareness and spread the word!

Compared to other countries in the world, we use a lot of resources and have large carbon footprints. We need to take responsibility for what we can do, what we should do and what we must do!
