LONG‐TERM GROUNDWATER MONITORING

Purpose: To develop historical data on groundwater aquifers todetermine water influences and usages for residential planning, waterrate billing, seasonal water demand, and other issues.

Method/Steps: One or more monitoring wells are instrumented withwater level instruments. Each well will typically be measured for baselinewater levels and temperature. Water level instruments with pressure andtemperature sensors are placed down the well, with placementpositioning well documented.

Logging Type: Linear, typically at 15 min intervals or longer

User: USGS, State Water Agencies, City/County Water Districts,Resource Management Consultants

Recommended Systems: Level TROLL 500. Level TROLL 100, 300and 700 can also be used.

Considerations: Absolute pressure sensor data must be postConsiderations: Absolute pressure sensor data must be postcorrected for barometric changes. Applications such as irrigation andwater conservation often look for the lowest cost solution.
