    All throughout a Chihuahuan dance, acouples hands are intertwined, supportingeach other through the twirling, bendingand stomping o the eet. Chihuahua ballet,like other regions, eatures unique costumes,

    props, hair and make up styles. Eye makeup or women is a key signature.

    Jalisco style is one o the most recognizable,displayed through a black dress with multi-colored rues horizontally lined up by theskirt and sleeves. Vibrant green, orange,pink, blue and gold surround the eyes.

    Members said dancing ballet olkloricomakes them eel more connected with theirMexican ancestry.

    Many o the second generation takesits culture or granted, said the clubs

    ICC representative Vanessa Garcia. Andso much history and tradition is lost anddancing and listening to traditional musicmakes me able to communicate better

    with my parents and grandparents wholived in Mexico.

    Diversity lourishes in Folklor Jaguarand is not exclusive to Mexicans, Latinosor even dancers.

    Krystell Andrade said prior to joining theclub she lacked rhythm.

    I had no experience whatsoever, sheconessed. I was just like I wanna join.

    Vice President Miriam Hernandez saidthe most important thing to bring to theclub is an open mind, a positive attitude anda willingness to work with others.

    I you just wanna join and learn, you canjust come, said costume director TomasGonzalez. I you wanna start perorming

    with everybody you gotta be dedicated.

    What we actually learn a lot is how to notmix business with pleasure.Ballet olklorico combines the great

    Mexican arts o music, dance and ashion,and Folklor Jaguar brings them all togetherin a borderlands context that celebrates theconvergence o two great cultures. Moreimportant to the dedicated dancers, its

    his custom t-shirt patterns and pictures.It took me one year to create my rstshirt, Chie Buddha, in 2009, he said.I decided just to get one box o shirtsmade and give them to my riends andamily, but then everyone wanted one.Baltezar said he sent shirts to relatives andbuddies throughout Southern Caliorniaand ijuana. Soon riends o those riends

    were asking where they could get theirhands on one.

    Ater creating his website cleancloth-ing09.com, he decided to move on tosocial networking.

    I made a page on Facebook or Clean,he said. People kept adding the page andasking i they could buy a shirt.

    Samantha ellez, 20, English major, saidshe was one o those people.

    I rst saw his label on campus at SWC(last year), she said. A student walkedpast me with Joshs Buddha shirt on andI knew I wanted one.

    I personally deliver the shirts, helaughed. I dont having shipping on the

    website, so I have to right now.Even though he had difculty putting

    together a website where people can shopand place orders, consumers have beenvery supportive, he said.

    His newound success got a push romhis riends, Baltezar said, one o whomencouraged him to put the design on morethan just paper.

    I bought a shirt or him to put theBuddha design on, said Breanna Legg,20. I just kept asking him to do it untilhe nally did.

    Alyssa ucker, 20, said she has knownBaltezar or seven years and realized he wasexceptionally artistic since they were kids.

    Hes always been creative, she said.Tere is something behind every design

    which is the cool part.ucker said she has been active in sup-

    porting his label, even owns one o hisrose t-shirts.

    Besides his captivating designs, thestyle o it does too, she said. Its verymodern.

    Baltezar said the support he received ismore than he expected.

    Its something that I really like to do,so why not make a living out o it? hesaid. I want people to like my brandand I want it to be successul, but Im notimpatient or it.
