October – Month of the Holy Rosarystructed.

The living learn to re-sist spiritual decline.

The dead have theirpains eased by suf-

frages.

We have known of some benefits of the HolyRosary. It gradually bringsus a perfect knowledge of   Jesus Christ. It purifies

our souls from sin. Itgives us victory over allour enemies. It makes thepractice of virtue easy. Itsets us on fire with the

love of the Lord. It en-riches us with graces andmerits. It supplies us withwhat is needed to pay allour debts to God and toour fellowmen, and finally,

it obtains all kinds of

graces from God.

Pope John Paul II urgesus to pray the Holy Ro-sary. In his letter to thefaithful, he says: Octoberis the month in which the

Most Holy Queen of theHoly Rosary is venerated.Within the current inter-national context, he in-vites all individuals, fami-lies, communities…to

pray this Marian prayer, possibly everyday, forpeace, so that the worldcan be preserved from thewicked scourge of terror-

ism.

The Blessed Motherencourages us to pray.Pray the Holy Rosary…without ceasing!

Every year, the month

of October is dedicated tothe Holy Rosary and this islargely due to the fact thatwe celebrate the liturgicalfeast of our Lady of the

Rosary. We obtain severalblessings in praying theHoly Rosary, such as:

Sinners obtain pardon.

Those who thirst are

refreshed. Those who are filtered

are set free.

Those who weep finds joy.

Those who are temptedfind peace.

Those in need find help.

Religious are reformed.

Even in the worst of times, we still have many blessings for which to be grateful. Never should our trials make us forget the abundant goodness of God.

Guidelines for Business Dealings Between Members

of the BCBPBasic Commitment

The commitment to love and serve one another takes precedence over pursuit

of profit or economic gain.

Righteousness

We are committed to a life of righteousness and holiness, not just individuallybut also as a body. All our business dealings are to be conducted in a righteousand just way, in accordance with Christian tenets and principles pertinent to theparticular business situation at hand.

Proper Stewardship

We are stewards of the talents and resources entrusted to us by the Lord. It is

our duty and responsibility to harness, develop and utilize them properly and toexert our best efforts to preserve the viability and profitability of our business inorder to contribute to the common good and continue to serve each other‟sneeds.

Guidance in the Brotherhood

It is wise policy for the leaders to generally inhibit themselves from entering

into business with any of members under their care.

Husbands are to be open to their wives in whatever business deals theymay be involved in. A wife is to secure her husband‟s approval before en-tering into any business relationship.

Sharing by others of any information, particularly those arising from busi-

ness difficulties, should always be guided by righteous and prudent use of speech.

Full disclosure must be made regarding all facts and circumstances sur-rounding on in connection with the business transaction which might giverise to a possible conflict-of-interest, or may cause any undue influence, or

may impair the objectivity or impartiality of one‟s judgment or decision onany business matter.

Being members of the same body, we are duty bound to exert every effortto resolve any conflict or misunderstanding in an amicable manner to pre-serve loving personal relationships and to prevent harm or injury to the

body. If the controversy cannot be resolved by the members involved, thedispute would be elevated to the Chapter Head or to whomever the EXE-COM may designate to handle the dispute. Court litigation should only beresorted to as a last resort.

Happiness seems small if you just hold it in your hands. But when you share it, you will realize how big and precious it is.

Beth Ginete, BCBP Makati

Sec. of Dept. of Energy – Rene Almendras (BCBP Cebu – CLP 1)

“This assignment was totally unexpected. My immediate reaction when I received

the invitation to serve in the Department of Energy was that I have to discern this.Together with my wife, Marides, we sought a priest to help us in the decision. Wewere led to Fr. Manoling Francisco SJ who said to us, „maybe the latest song I havecomposed is really an answer to your prayer. The song entitled “Kailan Pa Man” isabout God‟s infinite love and protection.‟ This song was indeed the confirmation weneeded before my saying “Yes” to the invitation.” Bro. Rene and Sis. Marides both

agreed, “that this is our turn to “give back” for all the blessings we have received fromour faithful and loving God. We expect our BCBP community to help us find solutionstogether and to move things forward.”

Sec. of Dept of Public Works and Highways –

Rogelio “Rogie” Singson, (BCBP Makati- CLP 11/Ligaya ng Pangi-noon Community-District Coordinator)

“The text invitations came while I was attending a retreat conducted by Fr. Herb

Schneider SJ. My immediate reaction to the invitation was a resounding “No”. Sur-prisingly, the retreat was aptly entitled ”Heroic Leadership”. My discernment processresulted in identifying all cons, i.e. sacrifice for family, financial and loss of privatetime, but on the side of the „pros‟ was the all important love of God and love of country. In the following days, several other scriptural readings affirmed the call untilthe final Scriptural reading clearly spoke about “Entering the narrow gate”. That was

instrumental in my answering the call to government service.

“From where I am holding office, I cannot see everything happening around our coun-try. So since BCBP is all over the country, I need your help in giving feedback aboutwhat is happening in your respective areas. We cannot afford to be mere bystandersand I encourage all of you to help me.”

The other BIG Brothers who shared in the Assembly were Congressman of 1stDistrict Bukidnon, Jesus Emmanuel “Jess” Paras (BCBP Cagayan de Oro –  CLP 1/Makati), Executive Director, Toll Regulatory Board, Manny Imperial (Chapter Head of Legazpi Chapter- CLP 7), President of National Power Corporation –  Froilan “Lanny”Tampinco (BCBP Baguio – CLP4 and member of BCBP Board of Trustees), Philippine

Navy Commodore Jose Miguel “Mike” Rodriguez (Palawan - BCLP1/ Quezon City),Deputy Regional Director for Administration NCRPO, General Robert Rongavilla –

(BCBP Alabang-CLP 29)In addition to those BIG Brothers, more than 60 other BCBP brothers and sisters

from different chapters serve the new government in varied capacities as Governors,Mayors, Vice Mayors, Councilors, and Regional Directors.

Newly announced appointees include: Chairperson of the Sugar Regulatory Board,Gina Bautista Martin of BCBP Bacolod, Chief Superintendent, Noel delos Reyes(BCBP Greenhills), and PRC Board Examiner for Electrical Engineers Francis Mapile

(BCBP Makati – BCLP 22/Manila Chapter).

Interceding for othersis one lonely ministry

during BCLPs andBCMRs. Per experi-ence, many prefer other services rather than jointhe intercessory group.

Why? Because notmany have the heart topray with others for oth-ers for hours.

If only we realize themerits this ministry bring

not only to those wepray for but for theprayer warrior as well.

Standing between Godand the person beingprayed for and believingour prayer intentions willbe answered builds faith.

This faith brings joy, a joybeyond compare.

Musings from BCLP19 servants

God is present in thewave of graces and fa-

vors we receive each daysince June 19 until thelast session of BCLP19.Thanks be to God, our reasons for joy exceedour reasons for worry. Inevery session God re-vealed His will through allthe speakers.

We are the servants

who did not have meanswith which to pay theGood Master. Only onething we can do to givethanks. As St. Paul wroteto the 1st Christians of Thesalon ica, “Givethanks in all circum-stances for this is the will

“ P r a y i n g
