Students used the netbooks to work together draft a response to a short story. This was their first major written assignment in the class, which is a pull-out reading class for middle school students who are reading at a 2nd and 3rd grade level. We used the netbooks so it would be less overwhelming for the students to make the corrections needed to get to a “perfect paragraph.” Students then presented their drafts to the class for feedback to strengthen their argument.
