MARS SPECIFICATION MARS 400 is a compact, modular controller with high-speed parallel bus on which it possible to install more than one intelligent module, whose exchange data by dual port ram. It has robust mechanical structure with high immunity to harsh environments. The PLC has been thought like “general purpose” device; application fields can be: injection, extruder and moldings machines, textile, medical, packaging machines, robot, transfer, etc.

SW characteristics 1. LOGOS: the programming system Standard IEC 1131-3 The programming system LOGOS for Windows95/98/2000/NT is in accordance with IEC1131-3 standard; LOGOS supports all the 21 types of data provided by the standard with the possibility to create other native from elementary ones. Rack configuration LOGOS allows to configure modules parameters used on the bus. Programming languages The supported programming languages are:

a. structured text (ST): very closed to the “Pascal” b. ladder diagram (LD): language that uses contacts

and wiring connections to create logic network c. instructions list (IL).

A library of more than 100 function blocks and extensible and overloading functions allows fast programming, and guarantees the best solution to all automation problems. Program debugging LOGOS allows to use an high level debug for program; it’s possible to fix breakpoints, proceed in trace mode, display and modify all the variables. Map editor By the map editor (completely integrated in LOGOS) it is possible to create video maps; the video map is an assembly of all the information that must be displayed on the terminal PLC, and so they are the man-machine interface.

The video maps can be entirely created by the programmer: the dimensions, how many fields to be displayed (with relative color, format, etc.), the methods of recalling them, the levels of access, the possibility of displaying graphics, etc., are freely programmable.

Multilanguage text editor This editor allows to create application constants texts in 10 different languages, each language with its font. Create/modify characters The character editor is used to create or to modify fonts for the visualized texts.

For extended fonts (oriental) it is possible to reduce the number of character that will be stored on the PLC, minimizing the used memory. Draft editor for CANopen This editor allows to see, modify or create the standard draft. 2. ARGO: multitasking operating system: Multitasking Argo is a preemptive multitasking operating system: the scheduler (who manages multitasking) executes different tasks in parallel mode, basing on declared time and priority. A task can be periodically executed (time based) or on a trigger (interrupt). There are system tasks and user tasks:

a. the system tasks manage the modules activities (temperatures, axis control, PID, analog inputs, digital I/O, video, floppy, network, etc.)

b. the user tasks are declared by the programmer and they are used to undertake critical activities.

There are two different types of task: a. tasks in real time: these are tasks having priority,

scheduling time, and enable variable b. tasks in time sharing (round robbin): these tasks

are executed only when no real time task is being executed.

Monitor Argo visualizes the situation of the tasks during run-time, giving precise diagnosis and allows to end-user to change any characteristics to optimize the system.

I/O management Beyond to the standard management of all the I/O it’s possible to:

a. remapping I/O: the system allows, run-time, to change the read/write address of I/O without re-program the PLC

b. forcing I/O: the system allows, run-time, to fixed a value for I/O even if the transducer or actuator position is changing

c. optional card: it's possible to plug/unplug a module declared as optional without re-program the PLC.

3. Communication with Win32 world NOC library Using a DLL library it's possible to read/write, from Win32 environment, the application program variables. MCE server A server for Win32 environment allows:

a. connection between a Win32 application and many PLCs

b. connection between many Win32 applications and one PLC.

4. Terminals: IMI220-100A100: remote terminal equipped with backlight B/W LCD 240x64 pixel (40x8 char.) and 37 keys keyboard, which 16 are programmable function keys; the terminal can display both alphanumeric and graphic maps; communication to PLC is through RS232 serial interface (max 15 m). IMI220-101A100: remote terminal equipped with backlight B/W LCD 240x128 pixel (40x16 char.) and 37 keys keyboard, which 16 are programmable function keys; the terminal can display both alphanumeric and graphic maps; communication to PLC is through RS232 serial interface (max 15 m). IMI220-102A100: remote terminal equipped with backlight B/W LCD 640x480 pixel (80x30 char.) and 57 keys keyboard, which 16 are programmable function keys; there are 16 programmable keys with rectangular LED; the terminal can display both alphanumeric and graphic maps; communication to PLC is through RS232 serial interface (max 15 m); floppy disk drive is incorporated (MS-DOS compatible).

IMI220-103A100/200: remote terminal equipped with backlight TFT color LCD 640x480 pixel (80x30 char.) and 57 keys keyboard, which 16 are programmable function keys; there are 16 programmable keys with rectangular LED; the terminal can display both alphanumeric and graphic maps; communication to PLC is through RS232 serial interface (max 15 m); floppy disk drive is incorporated (MS-DOS compatible). IMI220-104A001: local terminal equipped with backlight B/W LCD 640x480 pixel (80x30 char.) and 42 keys keyboard + selector 3 position; 8 keys are programmable functions keys; there are 14 programmable keys with LED; the terminal can display both alphanumeric and graphic maps; communication to PLC is through flat cables (max 3 m). IMI220-105A001: local terminal equipped with backlight TFT color LCD 640x480 pixel (80x30 char.) and 76 keys keyboard, which 16 are programmable functions keys; there are 40 programmable keys with LED; the terminal can display both alphanumeric and graphic maps; communication to PLC is through flat cables (max 3 m). IMI220-109A000: local terminal equipped with backlight B/W LCD 640x480 pixel (80x30 char.) and 76 keys keyboard, which 16 are programmable function keys; 40 programmable keys with LED; the terminal can display both alphanumeric and graphic maps; communication to PLC is through flat cables (max 3 m). IMI220-107A900/902: PC based MMI with HD. IMI220-107A901: PC based MMI with SSD. C46530 / C46531 / C46532: Custom Keyboards for PC based MMI. Moog Microset utilizes its own know-how to design local or remote custom terminals.
